Dear Mr. Desormeaux,
I don't know where to begin! First of all, I want to thank you and Big Brown. Because it was that day, of the 2008 Kentucky Derby, when I watched you both race to victory, that I fell in love with horse racing. I don't know what it was: the excitement of the race, seeing the joy on your face as you crossed the finish line, maybe a little of everything. Now I watch every single race I can find on TV, and most of the time you're in them (which makes them even better)!
I think you're the greatest jockey in the world. I plan on becoming a jockey someday after I go to a college for jockeys in Lexington, Kentucky. I hope to meet you someday and get some of your much desired advice!
Hope to talk to you soon,
Kayla

Im almost there on becoming a jockey, Ive allready breezed a few horses! Great racing and I wish you and Big Brown good luck agaisnt Curlin in the Breeders Cup!

Like Kayla, I'd never really been a "fan" of racing. Oh sure, I'd watch the Derby, Preakness, and Belmont every year, but I never really got into the passion of it all until a horse named Big Brown.
I've ridden horses for pleasure, and I love it. Even today, at age 40, if you ask me what I want to be when I grow up, I'd still say "A Jockey!" That dream kind of went out the window when I was almost 5'8" at age 14!
Anyway, the reason BB caught my attention was HIS attention to YOU. Yes, Brown seems a natural, like he could race with no one on his back. But you can see in the set of his ears and his focus how he listens to your instructions. I think it's admirable that up until the Haskell, I'd never seen you use the crop on BB - you'd never needed it! I remember at the Preakness, you had to run back for the crop in the jockey's room - and it turns out, you never even used it! He'd always responded the way you asked him to.
I just wanted to say "thank you" for introducing me to the beautiful sport of horse racing. I'm not in it for the betting. For me, it's all about the horses. There's nothing so beautiful in the world as horses being horses and running.
I hope you'll be aboard Big Brown in the Monmouth Stakes on the 13th - BB just wouldn't be the same without you!!! I wish you the best of luck, and I'll be in the stands yelling my lungs out for you and the big guy!!!
Good Luck!!
Maialou
Hi Kent,
Im from Ireland and love horse racing and as you know we have the best horses and jockeys and trainers over here (: Really enjoy watching you race ride. Saw you ride Big Brown, what a great buzz that must have been. Keep riding the winners.
From Dublin, Ireland,

I am very new to racing. I have watched all the big name races because of my love of horses. I am now involved because of a horse I have grown to love and he happens to be a race horse. He ran his first race at Gulfstream on 3/7/09 race six and you were his jockey. You did a great job. It was so great to see him run. I never realized the feeling that a Jockey/Trainer/Owner must have on race day until I saw him run(simucasting). It was like Christmas and the fourth of July all rolled into one.
Thank you
I love watching you ride! I'm only a girl from a small town in Montana and I LOVE horses!!! Well I hope you write me back.
Sincerely,
Lauren
P.S. I don't get this game at all. It completely confuses me how you enter a race.

I just wanted to say hi and Good luck in your upcoming races.I hope you have a good year and find a lot of success in one of my favorite sports, HORSE RACING.
Saw the spill at the Spa and I truly hope you are OK not because I've won money on you but because I respect you as an athlete and the strenuous and sometimes cruel life of a jockey that you endure to be the champiuon you are. Hope to see you back soon
Thank you for giving us an inside look on a jockey's life! God Bless you!!
