About Me
in 1981 i worked for Elliott Burch. hall of fame trainer. he trained Sword Dancer, Arts and letters,Fort Marcy,Key to the Mint,Bowl of Flowers,Run the Gantlet(upset the great Northern Dancer) i was one of his grooms that took care of Silver Buck. Track record holder in the Suburban At 1 1/4 miles at belmont. we had a mare that ran 4th in the Arlington Million. 1/2 brother to J.O.Tobin,++++. What a barn of horses! i worked for him at S.A.,Belmont,Saratoga,Aquaduct. while at Santa Anita we were stabled next to another hall of famer. our stable dog got in a bad fight with his dog. i had to made the trainer release our dog. i thought my days on the race track was over. something that was frowned upon by a lowly Hotwalker, too stand up to a world famous trainer. i soon got my own horses to groom.at Belmont stabled next to Leroy Jolley and met Genuine Risk while grazing in the afternoon. saratoga; was stabled in the receiving barn with the Hunt brothers and Glorious Song... after Burch, i went to work for W.C Freeman at Aquaduct. His specialty was european grass horses. My favorite was a Northern Dancer colt named Southern Dancer. Could not run a lick but looked just like his daddy. i was proud of that (breeding) little horse. it was a great run! west coast note;i had Gary Stevens ride one of my horses at Longacres.
