The Woodford Reserve Turf Classic (G1) features an evenly matched field of 10 including morning line favorite Einstein who most recently won the Santa Anita Handicap (G1). Einstein is the defending champion and hopes to hold off Artiste Royal who finished 3rd behind him in last years running of this race. Artiste Royal himself is a Grade 1 winner having taken the Charlie Whittingham Stakes last year at Hollywood Park. He had a bit of trouble in his last two, hesitating and stumbling in the San Luis Rey Handicap and steadying in the Frank Kilroe Mile. Hall of Fame trainer Bobby Frankel sends out Proudinsky who is coming off two consecutive Grade 2 wins but now must step up to Grade 1 competition, and also Zambezi Sun who gets Garrett Gomez to pilot him. He might suprise a few. Cowboy Cal was beaten by Einstein in the Big Cap but hopes the return to grass will help him turn the tables. Court Vision might also be very formidable having won the Grade 1 Hollywood Derby, a race in which he defeated Cowboy Cal by under a length. Likely pacesetter El Caballi, Yates\'s Black Cat, Furthest Land, and Thorn Song round out the field.
