The Grade 2 Coolmore Lexington is the last stop on the Kentucky Derby Trail. Square Eddie goes as the favorite in this very competitive 12 horse field and loves the synthetic track but he is coming off a 3 month layoff so questions remain. Many horses are trying the synthetic surface for the first time including Omniscient trained by Steve Asmussen, Pitched Perfectly trained by Barclay Tagg, Brave Victory trained by Nick Zito, Masala, and Conservative. Brave Victory could be a very talented up and coming 3-year old and the question is whether he will handle the syntehtic Keeneland surface. Omniscient got a nice 91 Beyer Speed Figure last time but that was on the sloppy track, which is very different from a synthetic track, but will likely get a little bit of respect. The Todd Pletcher trained Masala looks to take some action as he tries to improve off of his 4th place Gotham finish in which he encountered trouble. The outside horse Hull looks to be super talented but is short on experience, who knows he could be any kind. Advice, El Crespo, Parade Clown, His Greatness, Jeranimo, and likely pacesetter Pitched Perfectly complete the field.
