The May 4 $1 million Kentucky Oaks at Churchill Downs drew 14 horses. One of the favorites is Grace Hall coming off a big 6 length win in the Gulfstream Park Oaks. On Fire Baby and Broadway's Alibi will both get play as well. Both are coming into the Oaks in very good form. Summer Applause and Karlovy Vary will be good prices but might be dark horses with a chance to upset. Karlovy Vary is coming off a win in the Grade 1 Ashland at Keeneland, but that was over synthetic surface and might be dangerous if her form transfers to dirt. Summer Applause is ridden by Garret Gomez and got second in the Fair Ground Oaks losing by a head to Believe You Can who is also in this race. Believe You Can has won five of eight career starts. Eden's Moon will be close to the pace and is coming off a third in the Grade 1 Santa Anita Oaks. Amie's Dini and Jemima's Pearl are the second and third place finishers in the Grade 2 Fantasy at Oaklawn. Hard Not to Like, Sacristy, And Why Not, Colonial Empress, and Yara are big longshots, although Yara did manage to defeat Grace Hall two back in the Grade 2 Davona Dale by a head, though lost to her by 10 lengths in the Gulfstream Park Oaks. Yara might get a piece of the pie if she can duplicate that performance two back.
