The Grade 3 $100,000 Old Hat drew a field of eight 3-year-old fillies, who will be going a distance of six-furlongs Sunday at Gulfstream Park. The field is headed by Sacristy who has just three career starts but is rapidly improving, including a 6-½ length maiden score at Churchill Downs last out. Bet to Win figures to give her some competition, though her last race was a disaster in the Grade 2 Pochohantas in which she threw in the towel after pressing the pace. Prior to that, however, she had won both her starts by 5-½ and 9 lengths. Both Say a Novena and Awesome Belle are coming out of the Juvenile Fillies in which they finished far behind the winner, although both horses were compromised by their post positions breaking from the extreme outside in posts 13 and 14, respectively. Say a Novena finished second in Belmont Park’s Grade 2 Matron as a 2-year-old. Awesome Belle won the final division of Calder’s Florida Stallion Series for fillies, the 1-1/16-mile My Dear Girl two races back. Quick Flip is perfect in three starts, having won her maiden at Parx Racing, a first-level allowance dash at Monmouth Park, and then the six-furlong Sandpiper at Tampa Bay Downs. She breaks from post 8. Sabrina’s Dance also is undefeated, having won her only two outings but she has not raced beyond 5 furlongs and will be venturing into new territory. Yara is coming off a nice front-running score in the Jack O’Farrell Juvenile Fillies at seven furlongs at Calder.
