Saturdays Grade 3 $100,000 Sugar Swirl Stakes at Gulfstream Park for fillies and mares at six furlongs features a field of eight, headed by Pomeroys Pistol. She breaks from the rail and is coming off of a solid fourth place finish in the Grade 1 Breeders Cup Filly & Mare Sprint. Roman Treasure figures to be one of the main threats, and she did register an impressive eight length victory in the non-graded Positive Gal Stakes at Belmont in September. Third Chance will be the likely frontrunner and draws the far outside - she is coming off a four-race win streak and has won by margins of between five and nine lengths in all four of those victories. Pica Slew was a monster as a three-year-old when taking the Grade 3 Azalea Stakes at Calder. Indulgence is coming off a win in an allowance race on the grass and will need a solid pace to run at, while Catch a Thief possesses a two-for-three mark over the Gulfstream strip. Moontune Missy was no match for Pomeroys Pistol in the Grade 2 Gallant Bloom last out and will be a long shot.
