The California Cup is on Saturday at Santa Anita Park and the main feature is the $175,000 California Cup Classic at 1-1/8 miles on turf. Norvsky heads the field and is coming off a close second place loss in the Ralph M. Hinds at Fairplex. His chief rivals are Lucky Primo, who is the likely pacesetter; the improving former claimer Holladay Road .who is coming off an allowance win; Mega Heat, who is going for his third straight; and last years Cal Cup Classic winner Soul Candy. He won the race last year at Hollywood Park when it was run on synthetic, but now tries over the new surface. Lucky Primo came in third in the California Dreamin handicap, right behind Tamarack Smarty, both of whom were bested by the above mentioned Norvsky. They hope to turn the tables on that one. Tiz Argent and Romeo Royale round out the field.
