Saturdays $750,000 Jockey Club Gold Cup at Belmont Park consists of a field of seven talented runners headlined by Flat Out, the runner-up in both the Whitney and Woodward Stakes at Saratoga. He will be coupled with his stablemate Birdrun. He will face Stay Thirsty,, the Travers winner who will be facing older horses for the first time and will have to prove himself here against a stronger field than he has been used to. A.U. Miner beat Birdrun in the Greenwood Cup at Parx in July and will be ridden by Calvin Borel. The 2010 Florida Derby winner Ice Box will be a bit of a long-shot here as he has not quite stepped up or improved upon the form that he showed earlier this spring. He drew the rail while Met Mile runner-up Rodman breaks from post 2. Rodman could be the main speed here. Drosselmeyer, winner of the 2010 Belmont Stakes will also contest the race.
