The $150,000 Plate Trial Stakes features a cast of nine runners led by Check Your Soul, who won the Wando Stakes by 2-1/2 lengths last month, and Bear\'s Chill, who is coming off two straight wins and has the highest last speed figure in the group. Bowmans Causeway ran poorly in the Florida Derby but showed plenty of promise in the allowance ranks at Gulfstream and could step up and do it. Trainer Mark Casse will send out both Strike Oil who won last year\'s 1-1/8-mile Coronation Futurity, and Hippolytus, who scored in a restricted first-level allowance over 1-1/16 miles here last time out. Sensational Slam has won three of five including a nice win in the Fred Capossela at Aqueduct, but that was sprinting and he hopes to bounce back from a poor showing in the Grade 1 Blue Grass Stakes. Imhotep could surprise a lot of people as a longshot and showed a furious late kick in his maiden race. Speed Ring and Sandy Gully round out the field.
