Travelin Man heads a field of nine 3-year-olds entered for the 1 mile Grade 3 $200,000 Cliffs Edge Derby Trial on Saturday at Churchill Downs. He comes off a big win in the Grade 2 Swale at Gulfstream Park, but will have longshot speed horse Duca breaking just to his inside to keep him honest. Indiano chased Travelin Man home in the Swale finishing second, and could very well turn the tables on him. Grade 3 Bay Shore winner J J's Lucky Train at Aqueduct is a talented horse who has a shot here as well. Machen most recently finished a decent fifth in the Grade 2 Louisiana Derby and now gets a slight cutback in distance. Indian Winter is an interesting horse who finished sixth in the Grade 1 Santa Anita Derby most recently, but the distance might've been a touch too long for him. Before that he won the 6-1/2 furlong San Pedro Stakes at Santa Anita, and 1 mile might be more to his liking. Beamer and Dominus round out the field.
