Saturday at Gulfstream Park features two races with potential Kentucky Derby implications, the first being the G2 Hutchenson. This interesting contest features a dazzling first out winner in Travelin Man who earned a monster speed figure while demolishing his rivals in his maiden race by over 7 lengths. He is making only his second career start so the only thing he is lacking is experience here. A logical threat is Flashpoint, who is also making only his second career start, but he won his maiden race nicely by over 6 lengths, albeit with a lighter speed figure. Still, he looks very promising and three-year-olds can take big leaps forward especially at this time of the year. This race does feature a lot of frontrunning speed and this factor could compromise the favorites. Other speed horses here include Crossbow, breaking from the rail, who won an allowance race recently, and Madman Diaries who won the G3 Sapling at Monmouth last year. Black N Beauty and Manicero are also pretty fast and will have to run career bests to be able to keep up with the favorites. Leave of Absence could get the perfect setup, coming from off the pace. He ran a great race three back in November though his last two starts as a three-year old have been disappointing. Little Drama and Royal Currier complete the field.
