The $125,000 Rood & Riddle Dowager Stakes on Sunday at Keeneland features Casablanca Smile, a Group 1 winner in her native Chile, and has finished in the money in all three of her stakes starts in the U.S. She is a stalker and has the stamina to get this 1-1/2 mile distance. The main threat figures to be Speak Easy Gal who has won 6 of 12 career starts, and has won at this 1 1/2 mile distance, having taken the field wire to wire back in the G3 Orchid Handicap at Gulfstream earlier this year. Most recently, she lost a non-graded stakes by a short neck routing on the turf. Emerald Beech and Dyani have been racing mostly at the Allowance level and need to take it up a notch to take the top prize here. Restless Soul has never won at 1-1/2 miles, but she did finish 5th beaten by only 3 lengths in the G1 Yellow Ribbon Stake at the Hollywood Oak Tree meet - she will face much easier today. Sweet and Flawless also comes out of that race, having finished 4th, right ahead of Restless Soul, and she could be improving at the right time.
