$250,000 Ancient Title Stakes at Hollywood Park. Smiling Tiger won the Grade 1 Bing Crosby Stakes at Del Mar on Aug. 1 in his first start against older horses but then finished a disappointing third in the Grade 1 Pat O Brien Stakes at Del Mar, but he can certainly bounce back to peak form. The Breeders Cup Sprint winner Dancing in Silks has yet to round into peak form this year, but she is in the trusty hands of trainer Carla Gaines, so she could jump up and suprise like she did in the Breeders Cup last year. Cost of Freedom and E Zs Gentleman will vie for favoritism, with Cost of Freedom having won the Grade 3 Los Angeles Handicap this year with a huge speed figure, as well as finishing just a hair behind Dancing with Silks in last years Breeders Cup. E Zs Gentleman won the Grade 1 Triple Bend earlier this year, and then lost to Smiling Tiger in the Bing Crosby. He could certainly turn the tables on that one today. Supreme Summit and Gato Go Win are a little light on the speed figures and will need a career best today to get top honors. Truest Legend and New Bay round out the field.
