The 2010 La Jolla Handicap Results

Santa Anita Derby winner Sidneys Candy will make his turf debut in Saturdays $150,000 La Jolla Handicap for 3-year-olds over 1-1/16 miles on turf. Leroy’s Dynameaux won the Grade 3 Will Rogers Stakes on turf June 20th and has never finished out of the money. Macias finished just 3/4 of a length behind him in that race and seems to have an affinity for the grass. Summer Movie finished only a half length behind Sidneys Candy in the Swaps Stakes last month and does have a win on the grass at the allowance level, and he could cause the upset at a price. Kid Edward has won a first level allowance turf race at todays distance but this will be only his fourth career race and he might need a tad more experience. Alphie's Bet has alot of talent, having won both the Sham Stakes earlier this year as well as the Snow Chief Stakes at Hollywood Park, but he hasn't fared so well on the grass in his two attemps on the surface. Golden Itiz is coming off a nice win in the Affirmed Handicap, but he has never tried the grass before, however, he gets world class rider Pat Valenzuela as his pilot. Face and an Ace completes the lineup.
