A field of just seven go postward in the $250,000 Grade 1 American Oaks for three year old fillies. The top contenders are City to City and Andina who finished within a length of each other in both the Honeymoon Handicap and the Providencia, both 1 1/8 mile turf races, and appear to be pretty evenly matched. Conniption draw the far outside and is a little light on speed figures, but she registered a pretty nice allowance win after breaking a bit slow last time. She is lightly raced so there is reason to believe she has more to show us. Harmonious has looked pretty good in her last two starts over the turf, winning both her maiden and an allowance race, though she too needs to step up her speed figure a bit to compete with the top two but this will be only her fourth start so her best races might be ahead of her. Riviera Chic, Antares World, and Weekend Magic round out the field.
