Kentucky Derby winner Super Saver will of course look to be repeating after his impressive 2 1/2 length win. One has to wonder if the muddy track that day gave him a boost which may not be present at Pimlico on Saturday for the running of the 2010 Preakness Stakes. The Derby winner is certainly a force to be reckoned with but there are many other enticing horses that have alot of potential too. Look for Caracortado to make an impact on the race. Like Lookin at Lucky, he too encountered trouble in the Santa Anita Derby and finished only 1 1/4 lengths behind him in that race, and will be a fresher horse too. Dublin drew a bad post number 12, but did finish only a half behind Super Saver in the Arkansas Derby. He finished seventh in the Derby, and who knows, maybe he didnt like the mud. He will get closer to Super Saver this time. Aikenite ran an interesting race in the Derby trial last month and perhaps he can get a groundsaving trip breaking from the rail. He also has Derby winning trainer Todd Pletcher in his corner, so that ought to tell you something. Jackson Bend never looked happy in the Derby and hopes to rebound - he is capable of better. Paddy O Prado finished a nice third in the Derby, but who knows how much the off track helped him? First Dude, Yawanna Twist, Northern Giant, Pleasant Prince, and Schoolyard Dreams round out the field.
