Grade 3 Inglewood Handicap on the Hollywood Park turf features favorite Compari, winner of the Arcadia Handicap (gr. IIT) three weeks ago, and will likely take the lead. The controlling speed in the 1 1/16-mile $100,000 Inglewood, Compari will be favored to win his seventh in a row. Still, he doesnt tower above the others in terms of speed figures. He will have to contend with the speedy Monterey Jazz (unless he scratches, as is possible), who captured a 3 1/4-length victory in the American Handicap here at Hollywood last July 4. Gallant Son has raced twice on the turf, winning the Pasadena Stakes for trainer Frank Lucarelli facing 3-year-olds at Santa Anita in March 2009. Red Alert Day will likely be rated by Rafael Bejarano but that one has finished in the money but has not won in three allowance race tries, so he will have his work cut out for him. Acclamation finished third in the Strub Stakes in February and is always right there in the money in graded stakes, but just cannot seem to get to the wire first. Great Siege did finish second and third in a couple of non-winners of three allowance races, and he looks intriguing. Dark Islander has yet to win in 5 tries since coming to America. Glowing Praise, Lease of Life, Rummysecretwar, Quindici Man, and Gallant Son round out the field.
