Saturdays Grade 1 $750,000 Florida Derby at Gulfstream Park features a promising field of three year olds. Rule is the solid Florida Derby favorite and brings a four-race win streak into the 1 1/8-mile Florida Derby, including a three length win in the Sam Davis Stakes at Tampa Bay Downs last month. Lentenor, a full brother to Barbaro, was a closing second in an 1 1/8-mile grass allowance in his last start, though his trainer doesn\'t believe he is as mature as Barbaro was at this stage. It would be a great story if Lentenor could pull this off. First Dude has a win and three close seconds in four starts, losing a 1 1/8-mile Gulfstream allowance race on a head bob to Fly Down. Pulsion was sixth in the Fountain of Youth for his 2010 debut. Pulsion showed his ability by finishing a good second to Lookin At Lucky in Santa Anitas Grade 1 Norfolk. Radiohead finished seventh in the Breeders Cup Juvenile but most recently won a nice allowance race by 3 1/4 lengths, and has a great trainer and jockey combination. Game on Dude and Miners Reserve are both coming off maiden wins, but they look like they have alot of talent. If they happen to blossom at the right time, they could pay big. Still, they have a big class test today, and it will take improvement to pull this off. First Dude finished second in an allowance race by a head most recently, he will really have to up his game today. Soaring Empire, Pleasant Prince, Ice Box, and Best Actor complete the lineup.
