Saturdays $750,000 Santa Anita Handicap features no real standout. Loup Breton is the second morning line choice at 4-1, and is coming off a win in the G2 San Marcos Handicap in January and has proven form on turf, but at least it was at 1 1/4 miles. If he takes to the Pro-ride, he is a threat, especially since Garret Gomez is his pilot.

St Trinians, seeking to become the first female to win the race, and is the mild 7/2 favorite and will probably go favored, having won four straight against her own sex. It will be her toughest assignment yet, but I wouldnt underestimate her and, if she can pull this off, she will put Zenyatta and Rachel Alexandra on notice that there is a new star in town.

Mast Track is a talented horse and does have a Grade 1 at 1-1/4 miles over synthetic at Hollywood Park but that was in 2008, he really needs a moderate pace in order to pull this one off, but he had a moderate pace last race in the 1-1/8 mile San Antonio Handicap (G2), and Dakota Phone was able to pass him in deep stretch. That one might have an upset chance at 20-1. Mast Tracks rival, Neko Bay will try to get the better of him this race (though they are actually both from the same barn, John Sherrifs), and the 1 1/4 distance might suit Neko Bay just a touch better than Mast Track. Neko Bay is coming off a win in the G2 San Pasqual Handicap.

Delightful Kiss just finished a distant third in the Grade 1 Donn Handicap over at Gulfstream and comes from way off the pace, and he has run very well on synthetic surfaces before when he ran out in Southern California a few times in late 2008. He just finished way behind a super Quality Road who is probably the best male handicap horse in the country right now.

Jeronimo and Misremembered are an intriguing pair, both coming out of the Strub Stakes, first and second. Either one of these would not be a suprise. Rafael Bejarano saw fit to take over the drivers seat from Martin Garcia on Jeronimo, so that can only add to his chances. Misremembered might take the lead or at least will be forwardly placed and might keep Mast Track company on the lead.

Marsh Side, Tigers Rock, Pool Play, and Eagle Poise round out the field.
