Undefeated three-for-three Buddys Saint runs in the Grade 2, $250,000 Fasig-Tipton Fountain of Youth Stakes at Gulfstream Park on Saturday. He won the Nashua G2 last fall and then the G2 Remsen. His beyer last time was a big drop off from the Nashua Stakes, getting just an 82 after coming off a 101 effort in the Nashua. That 101 will be very tough to beat, and if he shows up with that type effort, forget about it. Still, Jackson Bend came off a nice second to Winslow Homer in the Holy Bull Stakes on January 23rd, and if Buddys Saint should happen to run a slow speed figure, Jackson Bend might be the one to break his undefeated record. Eskendereya is coming off a first level allowance race and has trainer Todd Pletcher in his corner, and did win that allowance on the Gulfstream Park surface, which could work to his advantage. He is the third choice on the morning line. Lost Aptitude is coming off a second in the Tropical Park Derby over the turf, and has never raced on dirt, so who knows how good he will be over dirt? He does always seem to finish close to the winner even if he does not win and seems to have some natural talent. If he takes to Gulfstream, he could upset. Ice Box, Pleasant Prince, and Positive Spirit are coming out of the same allowance race, and will all need to step it up big time in order to win this stakes level race. Aikenite and Pulsion round out the field.
