Researcher is looking to defend his title in the $100,000 Grade 3, 1 3/16 mile Queens County Handicap Saturday at Aqueduct over the inner dirt track. He certainly will contend for top honors, but he doesnt appear nearly as strong as he did coming into this race as he did last year. Lord Kipling, Rodman, Storm Play, and possibly Honour Devil could be forwardly placed in the 1 3/16-mile Queens County. Rodman is coming off a 7 3/4-length victory in a first-level allowance race at Aqueduct on Nov. 11, in which he came from off the pace. Stretching out in distance beyond a mile for the first time, Rodman figures to be on or near the lead under Javier Castellano.New York-breds Stud Muffin and the million-dollar earner Naughty New Yorker would benefit from a contested pace. Storm Play has the best speed figures in the field but that was from last year and he is running here second off a year-long layoff and a poor effort in his comeback, but he gets Todd Pletcher who will probably have him ready second time around.
