Briecat won this race last year in a 13-1 upset and is hoping to repeat in Saturdays $150,000 Bayakoa Handicap at Hollywood Park, which has drawn 11 fillies and mares going 1 1/16 miles on the Cushion Track. She might be kept company on the front end by minor stakes winners Czechers and Zardana. Lucky Copy might challenge here as she is coming off an impressive 8 1/2 length win at Keeneland in an allowance race. She might end up pressuring Briecat as well. Teamgeist might have a shot as she finished 3rd in the Grade 1 Spinster Stakes at Keeneland in October. Smooth Performer is a local horse and was second in the Cats Cradle Handicap over 7 1/2 furlongs here on Nov. 15 but needs to step it up from that effort. Silver Swallow will be a deep closer and a fast pace will help her. Cat by the Tale has good connections and has finished in the money in her last five starts, including a 3rd in the Las Palmas Handicap (Grade 2) in early November. Eissoai is still looking for her first stakes win here in the U.S. Floating Heart and Made for Magic round out the field.
