Saturdays Grade 1, $600,000 Alabama Stakes at Saratoga features a field of 8 horses. Morning line favorite Careless Jewel has reeled off three consecutive victories including a runaway 7 1/4-length score in the Delaware Oaks, her first start on dirt. Careless Jewel boasts the highest Beyer number of all the entrants and if she runs back to that, she will be hard to beat, but now she switches from Delaware to Saratoga. Funny Moon beat Don't Forget Gil and Wynning Ride in the CCA Oaks (G1) narrowly last time, and those three are hard to separate but are each very talented. Be Fair won the G3 Lake George by 4 lengths but that was over a sloppy track. She hasn't been as lucky over the drier strips. Casanova Move has placed in four graded stakes this year, and comes off a fourth in the Coaching Club. Milwaukee Appeal returns to meet fillies after facing males in the Queens Plate in which she was beaten a neck, and the Prince of Wales, where she was beaten a nose. Sweet and Flawless completes the lineup.
