On Sunday at Monmouth, Preakness winner Rachel Alexandra meets Belmont Stakes winner Summer Bird, the intriguing multiple stakes winner Munnings, and four others in the Haskell Invitational. Summer Bird might want a bit more ground than the 1 1/8 distance will provide him. Munnings is supremely talented and his figures rival Rachel Alexandra's, but that is at 7 furlongs, and it is possible 9 furlongs might begin to eat into his stamina reserves. Still, he might be just that good that he can carry his speed an extra 25 seconds and pull of the upset. Arkansas Derby winner Papa Clem will try to come back from his defeat to Rachel in the Preakness, but he needs to step it up, especially coming off a 5 length loss to Atomic Rain in the Long Branch. However, Papa Clem did beat Summer Bird in the Arkansas Derby and finished ahead of him in the Kentucky Derby. Atomic Rain, Duke of Mischief, and Bunker Hill complete the lineup.
