The feature race for Monday May 25th is the G1 Shadwell Metropolitan Handicap (The Met Mile) which includes 13 horses with no clear standout. The favorite will likely be Bribon who is 2 for 6 at Belmont and has never finished out of the money over the Belmont strip. He also owns the best last race Beyer of 105 which was at Belmont at todays distance of 1 mile. Imperial Council is a 3 year old who will try his hand at the older horses for the first time but must take a big step forward. Of the 12 horses in the race, there are three confirmed speedsters in Accredit, Riley Tucker, and Driven by Success which may set the race up for a closer such as Readys Echo and the Roundhouse both trained by Todd Pletcher. They are still longshots and must step up. In The Roundhouses second start of his 4-year-old season, he won a first-level allowance race at Gulfstream before finishing third behind Met Mile opponents Accredit and My Pal Charlie in the seven-furlong Churchill Downs Stakes on Derby Day. Mr. Sidney, a Grade 1 winner on turf, will try to transfer that form to dirt. Runforthedoe was a Group 1 winner in Brazil, but also finished second with a late kick in the Grade 2 Oaklawn Handicap. Smooth Air looks to have a shot coming off a nice win in the G2 Gulfstream Park Handicap with a 103 Speed Figure and will be one of the favorites.
