It’s official! The new desktop client extension that we’ve all been waiting for – the heart and soul of our horse racing game, the differentiator between us and any other horse racing game – is scheduled to be released in approximately 48 hours.
Late Monday evening / early Tuesday morning (April 15), the new desktop client extension will be released. Please pay attention to the process explained below. It will save you a lot of headaches.
When you open the existing desktop client extension, you will receive an alert that there is an update available. It will also display a link that will take you to the Update/Install Page. When you click on that link, it will automatically close your current version of our game and take you to a landing page where you can access the new desktop client.
BEFORE YOU INSTALL THE NEW DESKTOP CLIENT, YOU MUST COMPLETELY UNINSTALL THE CURRENT VERSION OF OUR GAME THAT YOU ARE NOW RUNNING. IF YOU TRY TO INSTALL THE NEW VERSION WITHOUT UNINSTALLING THE CURRENT VERSION, BOTH VERSIONS WILL BE NON-FUNCTIONAL. DO NOT INSTALL THE NEW VERSION UNTIL YOU COMPLETELY UNINSTALL THE CURRENT VERSION.
If you inadvertently uninstall the current version before the new version is released, no problem. Once the new version is released, you can install the new version from your profile page in the community by clicking on the tab labeled ‘Install Desktop Client Extension’. Remember, this will not give you the new version until we have released it.
The new desktop client extension is an exciting upgrade. There is a whole new world of game features and enhancements and ties very nicely into our community. Give yourself a good 45 minutes to figure out all the functionality and find the enhancements. The new desktop client extension will work with all versions of Windows but will NOT run on a tablet. You need a fully-functional PC or laptop.
Keep in mind that all of your current race data on your existing desktop client extension will be lost. This includes all of the desktop client racing stats as well as your trainer races, saved races and prebuilt races. You can re-download your races by simply going to your profile page and clicking on the Resend My Races tab.
As far as your existing retired horses go, only the ones with a birth speed rating of over 135 will once again be available from your Retired Trainer Game Horses folder in the desktop client. To access those horses, click on the Update My Trainer Game Horses tab, which will download all your horses. Then click on the Update My Trainer Game Horses tab a second time and that will automatically repopulate your retired trainer game horses file - all of your 135 BSR or above retired trainer game horses.
You will notice in the desktop client extension several new horse files. One classification is called Breeding Shed Champion Horses and the other is called Other Player Trainer Game Horses. Though the files are enabled in the desktop client extension, you will not be able to access the horses for these files until we finish the programming on the web side. The important factor here is that we have put in the infrastructure so we don’t have to have another update when we’re ready to release these new files.
Please pay very close attention to the Access My Horses page in the client. It has been completely updated and now offers a lot more detailed information. The Horse Selection page has also been substantially modified.
We have simplified the participation in the jockey and betting tournaments. Players will be notified through a red Quick Start button that they are currently participating in jockey and betting tournaments. When the tournaments are over or they’re not in jockey or betting tournaments, the Quick Start button is in a neutral gold color.
There is no more access to the .DAT file and no more access to our Hrfan database. Everything has been encrypted.
All in all, we think the update is quite substantial and we’re hoping that tour Community members will appreciate the modifications and new enhancements that, overall, present a much cleaner interface and more functionality for the active trainer.
We are sorry for the delay, but we think it is well worth it. We look forward to your feedback.
On a final note, a new Stable page and Stable Summary page enhancements will be released the end of this upcoming week. These changes resolve several issues including the Unity issue for large stables. We have also made several tweaks to further speed up horse management and tournament entry.
Have a great Saturday evening and enjoy the rest of your weekend.
