I've written many times on this forum my distaste for "Match" races. They absolutly prove nothing. IMO And often it takes something out of a horse. I was against the Match race between, Ruffian and, Foolish Pleasure. Before that, the Match race between, Swaps and Nashua. All of the horses mentioned were great horses. You don't need a Match race to tell you this. I didn't vote, because nothing was there that I'd vote for.
would love to be able to have this race in the game but they don't have a rated Zenyatta that could be within 30 lengths of Ruffian because they have not created horse files in 3 years. Where are the new horse files?
You got that right. Probably more horses than we realise that aren't programmed quite right. I mean, to run like they did in real life. Zenyatta is the perfect example. Yes, I'd like to see HRF start working on the horse files again.
Oh, the Match race between, War Admiral and Seabiscuit didn't prove anything either. Two Champion horses. That's all that matters. JMHO
would bring new people into horse racing. No doubt about it, match races are the most exciting events that can be created in horse racing. It's a shame they don't have them really at all.
Zenyatta would have no trouble running down Ruffian. If you doubt that, just go back and watch The Breeders Cup Classic that she won, and then ask that question.
Meast, you got a lot of balls making demands as a 3 year player (non-VIP) who has spent 58k in points.
LOL. And some people call Flyingdaaka cheap. Good lord.
What good would it do to bring new people into horseracing, if they're coming just for the once every ten to twenty years Match race. Gonna take more than a Match race.
Match races are basically media hype that proves nothing. Sure, they're exciting and fun to watch and get the fans in an uproar, but that's it. I love, Seabiscuit. But, is/was Seabiscuit better than War Admiral?
Hey flyingdaaka. I play the game to race the champion horses against each other. I wouldn't call spending hundreds of dollars on horse files being cheap.
I was here from the start and kept this game going buying horse files when the trainers game was being developed and I am not MAKING DEMANDS.
Just expressing my disapointment of the lack of horse files being updated. They run a great game here but the reason I don't participate in the trainers game is people like you and your snide comments!!!
Good post, meast32............. Don't pay attention to this bully. He gets by with his b.s. crap because HRF lets him. And he takes advantage of that.
He attacks me non-stop. And nothing is ever done to stop him. I pay a lot of money into this game and don't need his harassment in my life. Takes the fun out of the game for me.
Now he's attacking you for no reason, just as he attacks me and so many others. Time for HRF to take a stand againt this guy, or risk losing folks like you and I and all of his victoms. He litterally destroys every thread that he posts on. His sole purpose here on our forum. Soooo imature.
Definately immature, and self-centered. Anyone who talks about themselves in third person can't get enough of themselves. It may sound like a gross generalisation, but it's true with most cases, and definitely in his.
Why would the amount of time and money someone spends on this game affect their right to comment or have opinions? It sounds like some people actually have a life.
Welcome to our game, Alex. It's the best horseracing game out ther in my opinion. With few exceptions the commuity members are the best too. I've written almost 5,000 posts and have many, many friends here.
Feel free to post anytime. In fact, we always look forward to new members posting. Your post is right on.
I see that you're from Australia. I admire the Aussies for having such a tremendous love for horse racing. I already have a few Australian friends and a good friend from NewZealand. All HRF fans.
We have a Australian female jockey riding at Santa Anita named, Kayla Straw who is doing well here. I'm sure you know her. She won over 500 races in Australia before coming here to ride.
Santa Anita has a tough jockey colony. I think she did much better when she rode at Golden Gate Fields, near San Francisco and not far from where I live, with my wife, in the beautiful Santa Cruz Mountains. Redwood tree country.
Again, welcome. Oh, I love Phar Lap. The horse. The book. The movie. Everything. Keep posting. Perhaps introduce yourself by starting a new thread.
Read post #47. Great stuff !!!!

LOL !!!
I Say They would both win depending on the conditions and the distance ruffian was a sprinter but zenyatta had better stamina
She won the triple crown for fillies setting records in everyone. 2 races at a mile and a eighth and one at a milre and a half. Thats some sprinter. She would have distroyed Zenyatta. Oh that's IMHO.
Ruffian became famous, when she broke down. That's the truth like it or not. Zenyatta became known; albeit with somewhat less celebrity than Ruffian; for her ability to win races. P.S. it's a pity that her race files seem to have goten switched with some Florida Greyhound record.
Ruffian was huge and fast, too. Maybe not as huge as Zenyatta, but hey, look at Northern Dancer. He was small, but he still won the Derby and Preakness, and Ruffian was bigger.
I'm cheering for Ruffian all the way. Not just because she's my favorite (I dislike Zenyatta since she's pushing into Ruffian's fame), but also because of Ruffian's will to win. The race would have had only two outcomes, in Ruffian's viewpoint: win, or die trying. (proof: she wouldn't let Hot n' Nasty beat her, even when she popped her splint)
Really, cavetroll, where's your proof for this "truth" of yours? There's a high chance that people know Ruffian only because of her accident, yes, but she raced in the 1970s. Zenyatta raced not so long ago, and she's still alive today.
We hear of Ruffian's accident because that's what most people remember. Horses-and people- become famous because they are heard about, known about, talked about. People keep remembering the shock and horror of Ruffian's death, so that's what they tag with Ruffian, and that's what's passed to the younger horse racing fans that didn't live then. But Zenyatta is still here, so everyone knows her. People still remember her career, so they talk about that, which makes her famous that way. People's hearts ache when they think of Ruffian, because they remember her breakdown, so they think about that, and in turn, Ruffian is famous that way.
It's not Ruffian's fault she's famous of her breakdown. It's the humans' faults.
Oh, and by the way, here's another reason why they remember Ruffian because of her death: had she stopped running, listened to her jockey, right after she broke down, she would have been alive and in a more stable condition. But no, she had to win. Had she not imagined she was still running, she would have not shattered her elbow and undo her surgery. Had she not done those things, she would never have died. But no, she had to finish the race.
Ruffian had one thing Zenyatta will never, ever have: the will to win. She would never have given up, never let another horse beat her, NO MATTER WHAT. Making her a worthy champion. When people remember her death, she isn't being famous because of her breakdown. She's being famous because of her courage, her determination to finish the race in front of the entire field.
