Definitely Del Mar Racetrack where the surf meets the turf and the crowds are fun.

East Coast racing, particularly Saratoga Race Course - Summer racing at its best, top horses for sure.

Monmouth Park on the Jersey Shore - It's casual, it's fun, and it's for the average person. Easy to have a great time here.

Summer racing is great at any of the above tracks - just give me race horses and the warm sun on my face.

Tough One
That was a hard question, because in the summer, every track is fun!
There are a lot more activities for the family, and for the guys...there are a lot more ladies. ROFL!
Summer is just more fun, period! Vacation time for the kids, easier travel, etc.
I love them all, but being from the south, it's always good to escape to the north.
Arlington,Philly Park, even Prarie Meadows....they're all great fun in the summer.
Even my home track, Sunland, used to have Water Sports. There's a lake in the middle of the track, and they would have water skiing shows in between races.
Bottomline...cold weather sucks. LOL!
The County Fairs.
Well, here in northern California we have two weeks of summer, county fair racing at several different tracks. Fun to go with the kids and take in the fair and the races.
I haven't done this for years, but I used to try to get to several of them. We're talking about going to the Sacramento Fair with other family members. We'll stay up that way for several days, doing a few other things too. We have invites to stay at two houses, but I prefer to get a motel room.
In the old days, they used to have 2 quarter horse races, 2 harness horse races and 10 thoroughbred races. Now days, thye've even included mule races and arabian races. You see many of the same riders that race at Golden Gate Fields. Russel Baze is always there. Kayla Stra is there too. And many others. They do the county fair races, all through the summer, northern, central and southern California. Del Mar is a great place to go in the summer time. Everybody wears shorts. Lots of beautiful women.
midwest racing
my wife & i are heading over to ellis park this morning. small track that's down to weekend racing only. love the atmosphere, and the people are the friendliest group you'll ever find anywhere.
Harness and Thoroughbred Racing here
I have a harness racing and thoroughbred racetrack near me. Vernon Downs and Finger Lakes Racetrack are both fun tracks to go to. I find it easier to bet on thoroughbreds that it is to bet on standardbreds.

I wanna go to a race
What are small tracks near NYC? (Not belmont or saratoga) I really, really want to go see a horse race, but not when there are tons of people, someday.
Saratoga
is such a beautiful place, While visiting in 1995 saw the Hopeful and visited the Museum. Fell in love with the area in general, Upper New York State, Vermont...Just fantastic. I particularly like the racecourse setting with all the trees. On another visit saw Spectacular Bid at Hollywood Park..Couldn't believe the continual two lines of planes approaching Lax. The Bid won that day along with an ex NZer named Stevor. The facilities were excellent but have to say that we enjoyed Saratoga more.
The County Fairs
I like the Pennsylvania County Fairs. We own standardbreds. I like them better than the Pari-mutual tracks.
