Horses run for the love of

Horses run for the love of running. In no other sport will you find the vast majority doing what they do cause they love it. There are a few superstars who have dedicated and sacrificed things in there lives for the love of there sport. But a horse gives you his all every time. Will dig to the deepest part of there guts and heart to compete. In no other sport is there such purity. This sport has a lot of bad apples in it (Richard Dutrow and many others)that drug the horses and use illegal means to win. People who take advantage of the horses for personal triumph,money and fame. Many do unethical things in killing the horse that can't run as fast as the others can(Ferdinand).But nothing in life is pure as a whole.So If we are speaking of just the competitors in the sport.I will say without a doubt nothing holds as much dignity and grace as a horse will show in competition. Only thing i can even see as close would be the Olympic athletes.

Thoroughbreds themselves are immuned to controversy

Thoroughbreds themselves are immuned to controversy... Unlike atheletes of other sports they don't have to worry about reporters writing news stories about them like ... running dog fighting rings, being involved in domestic disputes, public intoxications, or worse yet... cheating on their spouses. Neither will you ever hear of one going on strike until their compensation package is improved, or insisting on a bonus before they'll run in that slop. Horses exhibit pure dedication to their sport therefore they should be regarded to as 'the ultimate atheletes of the sporting world'.

Some of the horses do have big egos, but they're a lot prettier about it than most human athletes.

The beauty of the horses, that's my main draw. They are such amazing, generous, intelligent, and beautiful animals; those who have had the good fortune to work with horses in their lives are truly blessed.
