I have spoken to Puddles relative to same & he has responded in the positive. what is needed is ideas from the community so that HRF can get a tour created that could make most of the community happy & in so doing do justice to our beloved friend VASDEF.
My idea 50,000 - 100,000 cp [$5 - 10] entry fee, winner 1,000 000 + cp, 6 prelims per horse, 3 yr & older, only 1 entry per trainer [to encourage total community participation], final 8 - 9F on fast dirt, multiple surfaces in prelims [sand, dirt, grass, synthetic] the idea here is that each entry will have to run at least one race on each surface, 10 prelim races. A tour like this is about fun & excitement and not the same genetic tournaments that we are accustom to [and tired of], VASDEF was a visionary so a tour like this would make him proud.
This is a very serious thread & a very worthy cause, so i will appropriate if the community keep on topic. Puddles & HRF are the creators & owners of this game, but the community is the blood that flows through the HRF veins and HRF can not exist with out us, so let us all contribute to this worthy cause & have at least 500+ post so that we can get this tournament created ASAP.
thank you

I like the idea, but here's a twist...let the final distance and surface be unknown until after the last prelim is run - then a random draw from among all the prelims will be the final. The final could be on any surface and distance that was run in the prelims. Dusty

I agree

I would enter a horse just to show my support for Vas.
Can't think of a better legacy for him. Count me in.

I love you like an online gaming site friend, but I can think of 100 better ways to honor Rick's legacy.

I can not throw my support behind an idea initiated by a player who, in MY OPINION, is not only a dishonest player, but One who makes false accusations toward others.

Sorry, no dice.

Tribute ?

I'm inclined to agree in part with you in as much as maybe the tourney is an idea who's time hasn't come yet. I've been here a short time and have heard a lot of reference to Vasdef. Someone who obviously had a profound effect on the players and the game .Maybe a bettter Tribute would be a memorial on the home page affording the rest of us and future players to this captivating person. The stuff about a dishonest player I don't have a clue about but you have peaked my interest I admit.

Vasdef was more than a mere player. He was the lifeblood of the forums and it saddens me that you weren't here to experience his wit, kindness, and just plain pure goodness.

Eight months after, I still get misty when I think of him.

I BEGGED the CEO of this game to do SOMETHING for our fallen friend. Just something simple like an icon of his colors on the homepage.

No dice!

DISGUSTING!!!!!!!!
FUCKING DISGUSTING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

On the bright side, we can now see what Dr NoNeeedles looks like when the performance report loads.

So it all balances out.

Losing Vasdef is a great part

Losing Vasdef is a great part of the reason I really don't spend a lot of time posting on the forums anymore. There is still a gaping chasm that can never be filled. I read the threads and think how much fun Vasdef would have had playing in them and it still makes my heart ache. He was a great friend and the heart and soul of this forum for a very long time.

He would have been thrilled at the new site and I know he is still looking down here and patting himself (and the rest of the group involved in restructuring the instas) on the back for the great success of that idea that he himself drove for with a passion unmatched and unrivaled. Every time I enter my horse in one I think of him.

With that said I propose instead on 11/30 every year, in his honor there is a series of instas. Done the old way. Races to be run are determined by a public vote as far as distance/surface/condition. The old 20K claimers where you pay your fee and enter whatever horse you want. Buyer beware. Could be a lemon, could be a hell of a bargain though as well. That would seem more fitting to me. Something along that line anyhow.

I really miss Vasdef,

I really miss Vasdef, especially when Keeneland runs, because we made alot of coin there together.

He was a great friend, and an even better person.
