Hi folks, newbie here who got too excited and breed way too many horses. So now I have 50 horses and I love it but while I'm ok picking tournaments, I'm having a hard time with managing the jockey instructions and keeping track of them. Sometimes it takes me several hours per day just to go through all the information and previous results to figure out what to set for jockey instructions.

Does anybody have some good suggestions on tips to manage large stables , especially regarding jockey instructions?

Does anybody just use the same instructions for almost every race, ie. Save ground / true style ?? I figure true style is a safe setting, after all, its their true style. Probably can't get away with the same idea for workouts. I like to go back and review previous results to see what worked and what didn't work for workouts but that and keeping track of what I select takes alot of time?

Bonus question: Whats the largest amount of horses in a stable or that anybody has ever had at one time?

You need to find a Mentor

You need to find a Mentor. I use excel spreadsheet to keep track of the info on my horses.

I try not to go over 65 horses at one time. Currently have 55 horses. I think 21Burns may have had the largest stable (over 400 horses).

large stables

I had my stable peak at 576 horses. Now down to around 100.I aim to have a stable of about 40-50 horses in coming weeks and intend to stay at this number.Unless you have lots of cash to spare, I suggest new players stay with stables of no more than 25 horses. With stable fees, entry fees and race fees it can be an expensive game if you do not have good horses to replenish points regularly.Best wishes and good luck.

I only enter instructions

I only enter instructions for my horses in Generals.... so in my case i copy paste my over 130bsr horses DAT into notepad along with the jockey/training suggestion from my performance report so each 130+ horses has all its details in the same place.. i then have that document on my desktop aswell so every time i need to enter a tournament/race or enter instructions in generals i simply click the icon on desktop, find horse, enter info required..

All horses not in generals run under the computers guidance... Which 9 times out of 10 for me gets the result i expected..win loose or draw.

Thanks for the quick

Thanks for the quick replies. I actually do have a mentor (who has been a tremendous help), and a spreadsheet (open office is free and does everything the microsoft one does). 500+ wow, thats amazing.

Maybe my question is more of a jockey instructions question. Do you guys with the large stables, enter in jockey instructions or just let it go to the default settings.

I do keep all of my horses entered in tourneys at all times, so thats why I'm busy even with only 50 horses.

Please tell me more.

instructions

Only give individual instructions with General horses.Others-sprinters(3f/fast-save ground when can)-stayers(8f/long slow-save ground when can-true style).

I have currently 93 horses

I have currently 93 horses but eventually I want to get my stable down to 70 horses. I think if you are working full time, 70 horses is probably the maximum I recommend. It gets too time consuming managing a stable of more than 70. If your not working and have a lot of time on your hands more than 70 is fine.

Horses

I have 58 in my stable now. As for instructions.................... It's my little secret.

I have a small

notebook where I keep the horses name with workout info so once a day I go down the list and enter instructions. I have over 100 horses now and this method takes about 1/2 hour to 45 min.

Ok thanks for the info

Ok thanks for the info folks. This really is a nice, friendly and helpful community, even though there seems to be some bitchin' and rivalries in the forums from time to time.

I think the key I'm looking for is to keep all the info in one place. I've been keeping the perf. reports in the PMs then a spreadsheet, etc. I think I'll make up a file for each horse then I can just open that file when its time to decide on that horse and voila!

Each horse has its own

Each horse has its own traits, therefore there is no cookie-cutter way to giving instructions and workouts. What may work for one, may not work for another.

The thought of using the same works for every horse at certain distances is just hilarious to me.
