--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The fire situation there is very bad. 32,000 people evacuated. 200 houses lost during the night. Many more in danger. My niece lives in the middle of the fire areas. Three days ago, she called and said that she might have to evacuate. She has a plan to get herself and her five dogs to a safer place. I haven't heard from her since and the situation has gotten much worse. The fire has jumped the lines and is only 5% contained. The heat is in the 3 digits each day. 65 mph winds aren't helping. I feel the worse for her and her pets. I'll update if I hear anything. It doesn't look good.
Now, the fire is near Boulder, near where my daughter lives, so things are changing fast there. I'll contact my daughter today. She hasn't answered my email. Needless to say, I'm very worried.
Glad your daughter is ok. I live in Colorado and I have lost count of how many fires there are here statewide. Some contained,some out of control etc... There are some cities here that have cancelled firework shows for good reason. Plus there are stage 2 fire bans at campsites in many areas. It rained a little today but still pushing 100. Forecast where I am at is 102-108 for the next week. UGH

~~~I planted some bird seed. A bird came up. Now I don’t know what to feed it.~~~
I hope for the best for your family and everyone. I have seen the devastation these fires can produce. If she is ready to evacuate then she should be fine.
So sorry to hear about things like this. Just like me for most people your home is a big part of your life.
I hope everything works out for the best for your family.
I've been trying, but can't make contact with my niece, who's in the mountains just above, Colorado Springs.
My daughter, near Boulder is ok, except for bad air quality and smoke and high temps. They put special filters on their air conditioning to help keep the smoke out, but it makes the unit less efficient. They all spend most fo their time in the cooler basement, which is actully a huge family room.
We suspect that my niece and her dogs had to evacuate. Maybe I'll find out something tomorrow. All of the houses there are on five acres, with loads of pine trees. These dry, rotted, trees are good fuel for any fire.
Thanks everybody for your concern. Much appreciated. In the past two years, we have family and friends who lost their house(s) in California due to forest fires. Unbelievable. Don't need anymore of that.
Doug, your family are in my prayers. Your family and all of the people in CO. and in Fla.
I hope you're neice is fine and you make contact soon. Praying for all of you, I hope everything works out ok.
Thanks for being there for me and my family during this stressful time. I still haven't made contact with my niece. Hope I find something out tomorrow. I'm almost certain that she is in El Paso County. Just got this info below tonight on a hotline. Looks like she may have had to evacuate at 01:00 pm today 27 June. This was a mandatory evacuation. To my knowledge, there's only one way in or out of her area. That takes her right back down into the Colorado Springs fire area.
go with you and your family.. And i hope she got her Collies out okay as well..
Just got off the phone with my daughter, who lives 7 miles from, Boulder, Colorado. Except for the smoke and 3 digit temps., she's ok and nobody there considers that they are in harms way. Soo, that was good news.
Still haven't heard anything from my niece. She's more up in the hills and close to the out of control fires. I suspect she had to evacuate. She was more concerned about her five Collies than anything else. But her married children were going to help move them out of the area if they got the notice to evacuate.
