Hello Everyone,
I am relatively new here on this great site. Been here a little over two weeks now and am really enjoying the aspects of this game.
My questions are about the practice races that you run to gauge how well your horse runs against the better horses in advance mode. I was given a BSR of 113 for my filly and I have been running her against some of the heavy hitters in advance mode. Mainly at 6 to 7 furlongs, because my horse seems to run out of gas in the longer distances. I often use Here Comes Thunder, Juliet, Chicken and a few other multiple winners who have a 3.0 rating to really test my filly. How many of you have found it fairly easy to defeat these horses?
I have won a few times and come in the money in races with a speed rating in the high 120's and once at 134. Is that fairly common or more on the rare side? I would really appreciate any feedback so that I can improve my filly for the upcoming trainer tournament she is entered in. Thank you very much!
If you have a 113 horse throwing out those numbers and its not in the slop you have a 116 blue monster. Place her in a claimer so I can claim her. LOL Good luck with that baby.
P.S. When you train her are you making sure you check the fast track box? You may be getting different track conditions and that may attribute to the wide range of SR numbers..
another thing that I know affects the training numbers is date.
Always change your date to 11/01 for late season
07/01 for mid and 03/01 for early season .. any other dates will give false numbers
I don't waste my time...actually don't waste my time with anything under 130 unless it's a off track specialist. You could say i'm not a supporter of restrictions :)

I would love to have all 130+ horses too, but cant afford that. I am glad that there are restricted so that I can just play the game with what I get :) When I start training ... I do it with the auto select horses radio button. Usually pulls up a few, decent runners to test against.
When you train against the big community horses like Heavy Fog and Cold Croc your 113 steps up some for the competition. Was your hi Sr in the slop? if not thats a great number, if it was then not so great. In the slop look for 145s + or stay home. That's a good number for soft or yeilding turf or even Synth. If those are all Dirt or Sand numbers on fast you got a freak on your hands.

any advice I can get will help me to improve my training abilities. I am not planning on spending much money here so I will have to deal with the hand I am dealt. I don't mind though it's just something to pass the time and it involves a sport that I have loved following and watching for decades. Thank you for the info.
Just don't look for answers. Lol . Hi Seatlestu, If it's help and advice you seek I think everyone here (including me) is happy to give advice on our limited experiences. I've been here about 6 or 7 months. I was an idiot and didn't get a Mentor because I figured, Hey it's horse racing. I'm no stranger. I forgot about the game aspect of it. You have to keep in mind it is both. Mentors have been around long enough to know the game aspect of it more than even good handicapping is going to get you.
I see you have that taken care of. I guess the best advice I've come to grips with is have patience. Any horse can be a champion in it's class, but not every horse will be. Start by paying fees and costs with your winnings to some degree and you have a good horse. don't be afraid of claimers. If you put your 113 in a 75,000 claimer, it could get claimed and thats a fair price for a 113. you could breed 1 or 2 more and still have entry fees in your pocket. Remember if your looking for a sense of realism in the training aspect, real barns don't send out winners every race. If your 113 seems limited in races you can enter it in, remember you can request races to suit your horse more closely. See request and vote on races button on left.Let me know about anything I can help with. Best bet is use P.M. button for e-mail. Good Luck.

I couldn't have said it better myself!
Normally if I get a 113 BSR out of the shed they usually run 97 - 100 on dirt at 6F as 2yos. With a 113 horse I usually train against toss a penny, sunshine , vanilla , lightening, and magic at last. they are in file 6 with chicken
