Greetings all! I saw the commercial for this game on TVG last weekend and thought I would try it out. Besides being completely lost and having no idea what I am doing, I am really enjoying it. It is obvious from what I have seen that this takes a considerable investment (time) if you want to improve, so I am looking forward to learning as much as I can. If anyone wants to take me under their "hoof" I would certainly appreciate the ability to ask questions. Unfortunately, I cannot sign up for the mentor program, but would appreciate any assistance that can be provided, especially newbie tips.
Lastly, does anyone else feel like everytime the breed a horse they end up with the mentally challenged horse from Family Guy? I definitely don't understand how to breed well as I don't have a horse over 114 and had to immediately retire the second horse I bred.
Anyway, looking forward to getting to know you all!
Hi & good luck to ya
Welcome to the great game, and good luck.
all those low BSR horses to the glue factory. Some of them could be real champs when raced in the right tourneys. I have one general runner that is ready for retirement, and only got it due to some luck with the vet. All I have are low BSR horses, and I have some real good ones (by that I mean they are competitive in their class). You can win with thoses horses and enjoy this game. I have a goal of getting a monster one day and hopefully getting into the breeding shed, but in the meantime I have fun with the horses that I have. But the really low BSR horses that are in the 80's will be hard to race due to races not filling up like mentioned above. Most don't keep them so full tourneys are hard to get.
Welcome to the game! Listen to everyone above and give your horses a chance before retirement, if they don't perform well after 2-3 tries I usually retire mine. My best horses are a 106BSR, 126BSR, and nothing over 130BSR. In order to compete in the generals you need a monster, those races are open to all BSR horses and someone can enter a 150+ against your little 135 horse you thought was great and beat you into the ground.

I tend to disagree. I've got a very good 127.7 that has won 3 G3s. If you breed a good 125 to 129 you can win g3s. I've also had a 127.9 that's won a G3 which bet a 139. The other thing is I've won a lot of g3s with horses having a BSR of 132. The secret is to train your horse and see if it can compete. My recent success was a 128.9 bsr slop machines horse which won a G2. It ran a 170 in the 10 furlong final! I have found some of my higher BSR horses in my stable disappointing. Not all very high bsr horses are good. Some are duds.
Thanks everyone for the replies/comments. Everyone has been extremely friendly and helpful. I feel really bad for my family who is going to be seeing alot less of me because of this game! :)
I have the same problem concerning family time.
Except in my case, they are thrilled.
They love this game more than I do and they've never even played it.

Congratulations on joining this game. The trainers are friendly and helpful.Ask lots of questions.More knowledge-more enjoyment.Have fun.Best of luck.
If you need any help I would be glad to help. Message me anytime.
I hope you have much luck. As for breeding I have over 100 horses and only about 25 have bsrs over 120. The lower bsrs can and do win so always race a horse before retirement (unless bsr is less than 89- its hard to get tournys to fill at that level). Breeding is mostly chance unless you get a tip- so cross your fingers & wish real hard and hope for the best. Freda
