One example i see a good consistent horse who has won 5 or 6 group1 races and then drop to group 3-2 tourney runs nowhere in the preliminaries... I know theres alot of factors involved right distance, track, and surface. But seriously a group 1 winner should always have an edge, in my opinion..
Another factor is ''who u ran with''. If your horse consistently defeated similar group of horses as a 2yo. It should be no different when they are older. Unless theres a major weight break difference, or the other horse grows wings overnight and becomes a champion...smiles.
Hopefully the new website will carefully address these important factors...
there flyingdaaka. Couldn't agree more with you. If you can handle the G1 then stay there, and don't go trying to bully the G3's. Also a horse might develop later than another horse so it won't do as well at first. This is a reasonable possiblity and thus won't always get beaten due to finally improving. So just because you beat it as a 2yr doesn't mean you should always beat it if it finally developed into a better horse than yours. Some real life has been thrown into this game which is why I like it. Now I just need to find that right combo to get a general runner so I can argue about G3's and G1's. My only general is old and about to retire.
Black Caviar, Bridle Ridge just turned 3 so maybe we can get a G1 tourney going after this one is done.
is one of the horses you are referring to. Entered in a G3 3yo tournie when there was a G1 available. It's running ok but not dominating the event with only one win. However, if you check the SR's of the other horses from previous outings the current standings are not out of character. A number of them have equal SRs with Bart, just less consistently. Also, some horses perform really well in one race per tournie. My little 127.5 is not completely out of it, having already swished it's tail in Bart's face in one of the races. I fully expect Bart to win the event but not every race based on past form.
Secondly, a horse born on the 2nd of January is the same racing age as a horse born on the 31st of December although in actual terms it is almost a year younger. This is reflected in certain aspects of the game play with peak age. shown in the DAT. files. I've had horses perform well as 2 or 3 yos but crap as 4yos whereas other horses don't start to perform until 4yo and peak as 5yo.
I wish you well with Bart in the event and hope that second won't be too big a disappointment.
Thanks all its always nice to get some positive feedback! 'Crunch' don't mind settling for second, for a group3 tourney would be very disappointing though...smiles. BigKing for sure if you can find us a nice 3yo group 1 tourney, preferrably distance range 9-11f would be nice.
I thought a 10f G1 started on the 15th of May. God, senility is setting in fast.
I presently have a couple of multiple Gr1 tour winners in Gr3 tours. The reasoning is that at their age (past peak) they are no longer Gr1 competitive. So am I therefore to place my horses who are now geriatrics with the likes of horses now peaking at the highest level? Regardless of BSR, at any level it all comes down to SR. If they not at GR1 SR why race them at that level. Some horses can go longer past their peak at the highest level than others. I run horses based on where they stand the best chance to win at their highest capability. My last General Gr3 winner is Platinum Possie "127bsr". I also have a 118.7 in a General slop, "Invincibility." So whilst some may think I'm a lowballer, I race my horses to their full potential based on age and ability. It may have cost me a shed horse or too but racing at the top is where I like to be once it make sense.
I think a lot of guys cant afford the grade 1 points so the competition is a little softer. I had a horse called Black Cavier (really) that ran well in a grade 1, 1.2m purse. 200,000 entry and 25,000 per race. Dropped him down a little and he couldnโt handle it, then placed him in a blue and he couldnโt make the finals.
I ran a 138.4 (my highest BSR horse by 5) in G3's. Nothing to do with peak age, just he couldn't run in G1's with any hope of points. The lowballing thing is about horses that do perform to the BSR rating and are still run in G3's.
What you are doing is within the spirit of the game. Lowballing is not.
Ps. My 138.4 won one tournament only but occasionally it recorded great Sr's.
Post 8 "I think a lot of guys cant afford the grade 1 points so the competition is a little softer."
That is an interesting statement you made. I said something similar to that a month ago the only difference is I said some players can't afford to compete in G1s. They stick to the blues greens instas and occasionally g3s. The problem is some may get lucky and breed a monster.
Maybe you should consider keeping the horse in Grade 1 if it can compete and win in Grade 1 instead of dropping it. Perhaps the class factor has been corrected. HRF maybe has put something in place to stop this nonsense of entering champion horses into Grade 3.
What the @$% is it about you people and your obsession to run winning Grade 1 horses in Grade 3 ??
Hopefully this losing in Grade 3 will continue. Flyingdaaka would consider that the class factor is working just fine, it's you people that "need to be fixed".
Congrats !!! Well done, mate !!!
