mm found this i thought interesting.
furosemide A medication used in the treatment of bleeders, commonly known under the trade name Lasix, which acts as a diuretic, reducing pressure on the capillaries
mm
The amount of time it takes for blood to return to capillaries after it has been forced out, normally two seconds; usually assessed pressing the thumb against the horse's gums. When the pressure is removed the gum looks white, but the normal pink color returns as blood flows into the capillaries.
so why do we use this again so to help our horse stamina in a race, or so i was told.

THE HORSE IS A BLEEDER IT STOPS THE BLEEDING SO DURING THE RACE HE WON'T CHOKE ON IS OWN BLOOD THERE FOR A BETTER PERFORMANCE IN THE RACE.

Lasix isn't supposed to make your horse run faster in this game. But, it can help your horse get that extra furlong. As an example, the seven furlong sprinter should be able to go eight furlongs with lasix. It's not meant to make this same horse be able to go 1 1/2 miles. JMHO

I am starting to see alot of tournament finals won by horses not on lasix.Have been doing research myself and it is amazing how often the top finishes in a G1 Final are not given lasix, even over the further distances.I always believed that lasix cannot hurt your horse but am starting to wonder now. Also if lasix helps your horse to run at its top speed for that little longer and helps it to go that bit further i am wondering what is the point,i mean most of us dont enter our horses over distances they cannot run so therefore Lasix is not realy nessesary.Just a thaught.I for one think that lasix should be removed from the game along with vetting. But that is just my opinion.

I'm in total agreement with your post number three. Vetting would be ok (possibly) if it was changed to help injured horses. But I certainly don't like it the way it is now and always has been from day one.
As for Lasix, it's been a 50/50 proposition for me. I've won with it. I've lost with it. It might help. It might not help. With that said, I wonder why even use it??? JMHO
Personally, I wish it (Lasix) was never introduced to our game. "JMHO" "Nothing more".

In real racing the drug is used to prevent
a condition known as exercise induced pulmonary hemorrhaging
During a race all horses experience changes of their blood pressure in their lungs
so what the lasix does is control the blood pressue and fluid balance. Also being a diuretic
on one dose of lasix given 12 hours before a race a horse can drop about 20 lbs of body weight.
therefore giving him an advantage over a horse who is not treated. In the past there have been studies done to show it can be a performance enhancer. As far back as the late 70's lasix wasnt allowed to be used in New York tracks. So to the point in this game yes it can enhance your horses performance.

Doug to your point if we were made aware of injuries when they occured
in our horses what would be an Idea would to be able to treat with bute which is an anti
inflamitory and is used frequently when a horse comes up lame. As it is now if I feel one of my horses who are prone to little injuries dont run right I usually lay them up for a month or two before I start to train again

thanks gemini for your reply above yes i did read an article about how and why it was used but did not see anything about it enhancing the horse but reading your reply shows that it might help.
yes i think that if we knew when our horses were injured would help dearly. as then we knew when to lay up the horse for rest etc.
because possibly when we just think the horse ran garbage that just maybe down to injury.
good luck all

Could it be that vetting and lasix are a means of getting more money from the trainers?Do they really work?I do know from experience that vetting rarely helps.I used to lasix all my horses. My blues and greens are now not given lasix and are performing just as well.I have been giving lasix to my gen.sprinters but will discontinue.Saved lots of money and am happy with the performances without lasix.

Your Welcome Rose
As far as it helping here well I use it all the time sometimes I see a difference
and there are times I dont when I dont see a difference I stop using it. I have in the past found that
when I stopped on some horses they went alot better. I think its hit or miss just like everything else
in this game Jmho.

As far as the game goes, it says lasix will "help your horse last longer at top speed before tiring". does this mean that if you have a horse with poor top speed it will actually be worse for him? or if his "top speed" last longer with lasix will it affect his drive, drive point, kick and acceleration points? maybe i am looking too much into it but for the stat nerds its something to ponder...

Lasix increases the kick in most horses. How that improves that horses performance is up for debate.

The misunderstanding I feel is that in real racing lasix is used to prevent a condidtion
in this game it used as an enhancer so that is where folks are getting mixed up
