Flyingdaaka has seen quite a bit of crap in the forums lately. It seems the general people (or more to the point, wannabe general people) have been ridiculing other trainers for not participating in generals.
Include Flyingdaaka in that group. How hard is it to understand that it is just as fun, actually in many cases, more fun to participate in restricted and claiming events. They are more competitive, more fair, and usually have a more diverse group of trainers in them. No fear of facing a horse with a 15 point BSR advantage in restricted races or claimers. The generals have the same suspects all the time. The other tournaments have a variety of different trainers.
The generals, as they are set up today, are of no interest to Flyingdaaka. Flyingdaaka is not alone. Just for shits and giggles, Flyingdaaka broke down last nights events. There were 107 HRF races. Here's what went off last night:

Blue: 64
Green: 8
Red: 4
Total restricted: 76

Claiming: 7

Grade 3 generals: 16
Grade 2 generals: 3
Grade 1 generals: 5
Total general: 24

That means 77.5% of the races run last night were restricted or claiming. And most of the generals were, of course, bless you people, Grade 3 generals. Clear evidence that people besides Flyingdaaka are sickened by the way you people enter generals.

Many general people won't keep a horse below 130. LOL. Flyingdaaka has a different approach. No horse in the stable ABOVE 130. Any general horse gets thrown into a claimer or faces the shotgun.
It isn't about "dodging generals" or "being afraid of generals". It's all about getting the most entertainment one can from The Great Game, and many have figured out that the generals are not the way to go.

May I put in a suggestion.

May I put in a suggestion. That it may be the ever increasing cost of the game that forces a lot of players to enter low end races? Maybe?

Flyingdaaka

Excellent post.I agree that the game is about fun and running your horses where you are getting the most enjoyment. No doubt the Restricteds are alot more popular than the Generals and as much fun i think.

An excuse

Sasteve, yes, you certainly may put in a suggestion. The problem with your suggestion is that it's nothing more than an excuse. People who enter low will attempt to use exactly what you say as an excuse. Sasteve you never were one of those people, so perhaps in your case, the cost of the game may influence you. But for many others, that is a BS excuse. People have no problem breeding millions of points, but when it comes to entering a general, they tell themselves 40000 points is too much. Why wasn't it too much when they bred 20 horses the day before ??? or 50 last week ???
If the cost of the game is truly an issue, Flyingdaaka believes it can be played for nothing more than the VIP fee. If you jockey for points and keep a stable of 8-10 horses, win a punt or two in the old challenge buddy arena, it can be done.
And Sasteve, if price is an issue, why not put less punts on the old ponies, so you can have some cash to get back into the game. You remind Flyingdaaka of the little boy staring through the window to the funhouse, wanting badly to get inside and play right along with everyone else. LOL.

A valid thread

worth pondering. When it comes to cost, it kind of makes sense to me that you should get a percentage break off for the number of horses in your stable. I know HRF promotes large stables. But it is extremely costly.
Now, I'm not suggesting this. Certainly there are more things to think about possiby changing when it comes to cost. This is but one of them. Just a thought. Nothing more.

All points are valid

I have won some low generals with 120+ horses, but as a rule, I stick to the restricteds. I'd love to have that one monster horse that could sustain my stable and add a little extra to the account. The ole adage "it takes money to make money" still holds true. There's always that chance of luck factor, but normally that saying holds true. I'd love to be able to compete proudly in the G1's, I don't see it in the cards (or my bank account tho!!). So, till then, I'm happy just to be on this great game and compete where my horses fall. As in real racing, in the lower tier, everyone's hoping for that big break, spending what they can. Until then, content just to see their horses run and have a chance.
Oh, 'Trackatsunrise'...I got two 130+ I'll gladly put into claimers!! :)

Chicken Coward Timid

Are the three words that best describe Flyingdaaka. If you want to stay a small stable and stay out of the generals that's your choice. But telling other trainers where they should or shouldn't place their horses in generals is laughable. Since it is your choice not to run in generals, then as I have stated in previous threads shut your pie hole.

What is amazing to me is The Flying One hides behind over 1.2 million points in his account, but only wants to run in the lower "Enjoyable" tournaments. Without risk there is no reward.

BAAAA HAAA HAAA HAAAA !!!!!!!!!

LOL, calling Flyingdaaka a coward. You want coward, look up Billie Bound and Snazbird Float. The way those horses were entered by their trainer defines the word "coward".
Long before you came around, Flyingdaaka played in generals. You could run moderate BSR horses in them. Your type came around and blew that possibility right out of the water.
Flyingdaaka would run 120ish horses in generals quite often. Even win. Not today. Flyingdaaka isn't going to take those types of horses and run them against repeat Grade 3 135-140 BSR horses. Nope. You won't get Flyingdaaka's points that way, stiff.
Behind those "1.2 million points" lies the potential for a hell of a lot more points than that to be sprung out of the wood-works. Flyingdaaka, with the easiest of motions, could summons up 2 million points at the touch of a few keystrokes at his leisure. For now and countless others, its all about the restricteds. It's not about the generals, shed horses, chasing the general people. No. That is for you and your kind, Kingsport.
