Whether you're new or not, if you're not in the Breeding Syndicate, the paper has "Hot Pair" tips.
Nothing's guaranteed, but in case you're the loner type and want to know what pair has been producing, check the paper!
Or make some friends, and form your own Breeding Syndicate.
LOL!
Reading the paper is easier!

I was hoping someone else would answer Lou's question, but No. Lou asked his question on the busiest day here, and no one found the time to reply?
Lou and everybody ,
The paper is updated frequently, so you need to check it out daily, as there are new articles added often. Ron didn't tell me this, I check out the paper to see what's new.
Check out the recent article on Lord Outstanding's victory!
I think Ron called the race, it's great!
The thing is that Ron is a humble, modest person, he's not going to toot his own horn.
I'm not humble or modest, so I will do the tooting for the paper. LOL!
(eventhough, Ron didn't tell me to toot, I'm Vas I'll toot when I want to toot....you got that, Daaka?) lol
Check out this great addition to the Game on a daily basis.
Leave your comments, and submit your own articles from time to time.
Ron does a fantastic job, show your support!
Leave some comments!
HRF should consider putting a link to the Paper on the Community homepage.

Good info, Jay!
Did you see the latest cartoon?
I smell a revolt coming our way!
LOL!
I noticed you and Sound did the latest Toons, great stuff!
I like the Claimer's Corner, the most!
ROFL!
(At this point, I'm still trying to cover my butt, with the Instas)
I like the Editorial section, as well.
"Vas the paper is still covered with placenta juice, and you're trying to add stuff already"
Yeah, eat my shorts, Haterz!
Great paper, Ron!

I saw Sounds cartoon, which I thought was incredibly funny. Nice work there, Doug.
I didn't see anything that smelled of revolt. You should let Ron know that if there is any treasonous comments made, he should send them to Pravda.
Or The New York Times.
BTW: Placenta Juice is an EXCELLENT name for a horse.

Stop stealing my horse names!
LOL!
So, Pravda= NY Times?
You just wait until political season is in full bloom, Jizzy!
BTW, how's Rick Perry doing?
ROFL!
Back to the paper.
Did Ron call the LO/SR race? Sounds like him, but he threw me off with a hint of an Aussie/Brit accent. LMAO!
Jay, you and Slave should call some, as well.
You all do a great job!
It would be cool to have an archive of the called races in the Paper.
At least all of the Big G1 finals!
6 min 4 sec
Actually, It sounds like boy wonder, General calling the race.
I too picked up on the British thing, but it could be that the caller just had too much Prozac.
On the other hand, mine sounded like I was on speed.
But I have an excuse, lame as it is.
I am technologically challenged.
My Video Cam only records for 90 seconds. That's why I had to do a short race and call it like I had electrodes wired to my ass.
When my son asked me why I called it like that, I told him and he just about fell out of his chair laughing.
Apparently there is a "Chip" that one may use that goes IN the camera to give me more time.
I was unaware of this. LOL!!!!
Next week my son is going to teach me how to use something he calls "The Remote Control" to change TV stations.
What WILL they think of next?
6 min 4 sec
I actually WAS going to call that race. I went out and bought that "chip" to do it.
Then I saw Dave back in the game and I didn't want to step on his toes. He is a natural race caller. He actually sounds professional, while I can only do it in a "Jokey" way.

<<< Next week my son is going to teach me how to use something he calls "The Remote Control" to change TV stations.>>>
Well, Jay, when he does teach you, then you could pass on what you learn to me. Oh, I'm sure there's others too that would be interested in a tutorial. LOL Geez, these younger folks now days know everything. LOL
Anyway, I'm glad, Lou asked the original question about, Ron's paper and so many responded. Like, Lou, I didn't even know the paper was officially out yet. I've read bits and pieces from the beginning, but I wasn't aware that it was there for us each and everyday.I thought these were merely teasers. LOL
Now I'll be sure to look for it and read and comment. Oh, I plan on offering more participation when I find time. I also woud like to try calling one of the big races. I'm on youtub now, but still need to learn about uploading and putting it out there for all. My mentor has always been, Joe Hernandez. Voice of Santa Anita.
To, Ron................... You are very talebnted in so many areas and your contributions to HRF and all of us communkity members has een beyond approach. Thanks for doing all that you do. Now, I'll have to read the paper. I'm glad that, Ron put my cartoon out there. he said that he would. The cartpons are a great idea. Thaks to members all who give up their time to add their material. The paper is off to a good start. It could only get better and will.

Thanks guys!
Yes, please send any articles or ideas and I'll try hard to make them happen. Even if its just a thought like soundofrum's cartoon, I will work to get the images and stuff together.
Yes, that's me on the last race call, but I tried to change my voice with some software to give it a little different reflection.
If anyone else is interested in taking on a race of the week and doing a race call, please go for it. I recommend a couple pieces of software to help you with this (most are free or have a free trial period, so you can test it):
Screen capture - excellent for capturing video and images from anywhere. http://www.faststone.org/FSCaptureDetail.htm
Movie editing software - excellent for clipping adding title pages and audio. http://explore.live.com/windows-live-movie-maker
Audio recorder - great for recording your voice and making changes. You can add effects, import other audio like a cheering crowd. http://audacity.sourceforge.net/
Play around with it and see what you can come up with.
I use the capture to record the race and save on desktop.
Then use the movie editing software to get the video the way you want it.
Record the audio while watching the race. Once you get it how you want it, save to desktop. You can also import other sounds to play on top of your recording (like cheering crowd) Then import your "sound track" to the movie editing software and line it up with your movie. Save and upload to youtube.
Hope that helps all the aspiring race callers. Heck, if you want to do an article on one of your horses and add a video...I say go for it. It would be cool to add it to the paper
Good luck!

Seriously though, that Claimer's Corner is good stuff.

I must admit losing Vas took some of my motivation away from doing the paper. Vasdef was one of my biggest supporters when it came to the fantasy paper. I know he would want me to get this going again, so I'm back at it, hoping to bring you guys interesting fantasy news.
I Just added a Breeding Shed Pedigree page. Hope you find it interesting. Look to find new content as I get things cranking again.

Thanks, Ron. I'll be sure to watch. I find it interesting how, out of the blue, the data files are almost mentioned daily,(by so many) whereas in the past, folks said that they didn't use them, or that they were of no use. LOL Again, thanks. I'll take a look at that link now.

If i wasnt confused i am really confused now.. So pretty much your saying if it has a high base speed say a 69 that horse would prefer longer distances and that the stamina and kick have nothing to do with the distance.?
No wonder i am doing terrible.
Ive trained my horses and one race it can get 10f and then do it again and it cant, really makes it hard to place them.
But since the way i have been doing doesnt seem to be working so well i will try a different way

2 hours 9 min
@ lakersdolphins - First let me say that I am not a DAT file expert, so what you see is just my opinion. Think of it like looking at a racing form. 5 handicappers looking at the same racing form, coming away with 5 different opinions. I wasn't saying stamina and kick aren't important in distance races, or any other trait for that matter, but I think the horses base speed may be key as indicated in the video illustration. No hard rules, just food for thought.
@soundofrum - That's kinda why I made the videos. Some knew, some didn't. Some use it, some don't. In whichever case, all should be made aware of it, whether you find it useful or not. Who knows, one day it may be at the bottom of the performance report. No one thing found there is the holy grail, but personally having played the old game it gives me a better "feel" for my horses. At least I like to think so, that's why I shared it. Some players may find it useful, some won't. But least you can't say you didn't know or some vets have some secret well to draw from and have an advantage over newbs.
Bottom line is you still need to breed good horses, evaluate their strengths, place them correctly, and have a little luck on your side.
16 hours 38 min
And I'd like to add that though I'm sure by now, most vets of the game do use the DAT in some form, and everyone uses it differently. Personally, I only look at it for surfaces, break weight and peak ages. Everything else is stuff that I find in my own training and experience with my horses. And often, the DAT will say a horse likes a surface but my training will show otherwise. So it's not perfect, just like the PR's aren't perfect. But I'm sure there are those who live and die with the DAT. So really, it's all down to how you want to use it. But it's definitely not going to make anyone a top trainer just by knowing it. Definitely no holy grail in there, as Ronwar said.

The data.files presentation videos 1,2, and 3, Everything, including your posts of explanations. I'm impressed. You've got it together man. Ya know, Ron, I wouldn't mind seeing a chart that we could use in training, similar to the one that you used in your demos. I love this game and think/know that things will even get better. We've seen so may improvements since day one. Again, thanks.
