I know we don't have yearlings in the game, but has it ever been brought up about maybe HRF itself breeding some Horses from different Sires and Dams and posting some general information about the horse and having an auction like they have at at the Keenland yearling sales? They could do it E-Bay style and only run it for a day or two. Maybe starting the bidding at 5000 points. I mean who knows maybe someone will get a super horse at a bargain, like in real racing. maybe another Seattle Slew or Smarty Jones type deal. Just an idea, if it had been brought up before I am sorry I missed it.
jaycat, in order to make it more realistic, No one knows what a real horses speed rating would be even if it comes from a good bloodline. There have been million dollar horses who never amount to anything and 20,000 dollar claimers or 25,000 yearlings who have become superstars. I feel that would be up to HRF to decide. Knowing the BSR would drive the price up pretty much and probably not allow the casual player from having a chance to pick up a horse at a bargain price. They could gear it towards VIP's only, something like that would probably make me think more of becoming VIP.
See you at the races!!
JOE
It would be interesting to see how a progressive thinker like Vasdef feels about it.
Vasey. Come out come out wherever you are.

But I do think it's a great idea!
I agree with Joe, we shouldn't know the BSR.
Let's hope it doesn't turn into a diaspora.
A POX ON THE TOSSERS!

if we dont know the sr how would it benefit hrf ...is this not the situation that already exists when we breed a horse gentlemen ?
no change,,,you can guess when you breed or claim horses
Restricted auctions? lol
At a yearling Sale or a 2yo Sale, you're going by Pedigree.
In Claiming Races, the Claims are usually based off of Past Performance.
Breeding is a crap shoot.
I believe what Joe is suggesting, is to give a player a shot at a high BSR for 5000-20000 pts, or at least less than the cost to breed.
If you know the BSR, it would drive the bids way up.
Not saying, that HRF would even consider doing it, but Joe has a good idea, nonetheless!
If it's real world, then I'm all for it.
Players could pay for a performance report of the horse/horses being sold. This is what makes it different from breeding. You would have the opportunity to have a PR BEFORE paying for the horse. If you don't like the PR, don't bid.
Averse as I am to change, I must say that I am intrigued by that idea.
If implemented, would HRF reveal the BSR of the horse?
