Just wanted to thank you for this upcoming race...it's always cool to see the race run before it actually happens...being a VIP on the most amazing racing sim kicks a** :)
I decided to ride Thorn Song and finished second in a race that he should have won. The comments said he was a stalked so I wasn't too worried about getting a good position going into the clubhouse turn. I would let him settle in behind horses.
However,I was caught by surprise when he did try to go with the pace setter into that turn, so I was a little slow responding with a new strategy.
Anyway, I moved over to the rail going around the first turn, ( he obeyed my commands ) settling just behind the number 9 horse and stalked that one the entire distance to the finish.
The nine horse wouldn't shift away from the rail, thus keeping me blocked until the final eighth mile when a big hole opened up.
Now I was ready for the big move that would get me the victory. The eventual winner, number six, Just as Well at 34 - 1 odds sat just behind me and I had him blocked. The hole got bigger, but my horse wouldn't move from just behind Just as Well towards the rail and it cost him the race. He wouldn't budge an inch. Just As Well took advantage of this and came through a hole big enough to park a truck sideways and won quite easily. I've never seen such a big opening along the rail. Never. This failure to respond cost me the race. If I had the race to do again, I'd rush up to challenge that nine horse early on, but this time I'd stay to his outside.
Don't mean to take anything away from, Just As Well. He had the perfect trip and ran a terrific come from behind race.

yeah thanks =]
The real race ended in a dead heat for win. One of the choices and a longshot.
