Please explain.. what does the following mean...Energy at the end of the race, Speed used, Bump, block loss, and Turn loss. and how do they relate to the horse in that race?
Thanks, Joe
I use the past performance charts to handicap all races. However, I've never used the figures that we're talking about now. Actually, I wouldn't have a clue how to use them to my advantage. I'm wondering if anyone has worked them into their handicapping methods. At his time, seems like too much work to me. And, I'm not a lazy handicapper. Hope someone has some insight. Maybe these are key features for picking the winner.
I dont use them for handicpping per say but more evaluating the job I did as a jockey. I know if I lost by 2 lengths....but my bumploss or turn loss total -3 and I had energy left at the end, I did the right thing chosing that horse pre race (based on talent and other factors), but I failed as a jockey to give a good enough ride.

Energy, means how tired your horse is, if it's say, 1000, your horse isn't that tired,
Speed used is just a rating how fast the pace was, mostly around 2000+
Bump/block loss mean like when you were boxed in or bumped and shuffled back, how much length you lost.
and turn loss means that if you went wide around a turn, you probably lost a few lengths.
Hope this was helpful, bye
