Hi all. Im just new to this game and am really enjoying it.
Finding it hard to figure out how to ride horses, keep running out of energy.
Any tips would be a great help.
Thanks from Dublin, Ireland.
you will find tips throughout the forums if you look for topics by same name....but my thing is make sure at the half way point I have at least half my energy left, I sometimes nurse the half energy to 4 furlongs left for long route races (but pace of race and running style effect sublte changes to my strategy)....also go to max energy depending how far back I am between 2.2 furlongs and 1.5 furlongs left.
When your horse first breaks, let him find his own stride. Don't take back or push him to the front. Then as you see the race develops then decide rather to give him a little more speed if the pace is slow or take back if its fast. Make sure you pay attention to the horses traits.
time spent checking stats will mostly increase your performance in races horse traits are very inportant you should have an idea of where your horse needs to be in race for instance if your horse is an on lead type of horse then he must be on or very close to pace try watching replay over and over to learn tactics just pace yourself
good luck
Try riding races of different lengths. You may discover that you are better over a short distance say, 5 furlongs. Also make sure you try out different surfaces. If you do a five furlong race on sand, it will be on a straight track. Definately try riding horses with different running styles over different distances. Just because you're good on a leader over five furlongs doesn't mean you will do good with a leader over 1 1/2 miles; you may do better with a mid-packer or a far back horse. Finally, especially when you ride horses with lower stamina ratings and speed ratings, as your energy gets lower, they may not be able to put forth a full effort. I hope this helps to get you started. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
I love this game, Good Racing :)
I have found I do much better on short races,
The longer races, just play and find you nitch
You do create your own stats, have fun at the races :)
I was about to say what Ron said in his reply, but Ron beat me to the punch. LOL I agree with Ron's advice. When the gates open, sending the field on their way, let your horse settle into stride, before attempting anything. This, in a way, will be the horses way of giving you a tip. This is especially true in the route races. There's no hurry. Let the horse show you where he/she wants to be.
For those of you who aren't that familiar with horse racing and how to read the past performance records, I advise you to concentrate on learning to read and comprehend. Put this on a must do list. Lots of valuable info here that will eventually help you once you understand the basics.
