I had a few horses run too fast early in some recent races. Just blazing fast and fade terribly. Does anyone have any tips on how to slow them down other than slower than usual in jockey instructions? Do you guys think avoid traffic makes em go slower early? I have been using save ground one way or the other in most races but just wonder if there is a trick to get them to not run themselves to death early. Thanks for any input.
complain to puddles about the lack of being able to set a pace rating for our horses so they will run as we want them to and not at the servers/games predetermined whim which is wrong 95% of the time. Until we are allowed to set a pace rating like you can do in advanced our horses will continue run suicidally and that is an issue far worse than any traffic issues caused by the jockeys AI. At least with traffic they have "some" intelligence! Where pace rating is concerned they have absolutely no intelligence at all!!!
Thanks to a tip from another player i have discover that the computer assign the pace control depending on the distance and post position, since we are unable to control this in tournament, so far i have failed to control some of my horses pace in long races, i think write now you are meant to lose because of this situation, im training my horse in advance mode without controlling the pace and if they are suicidal in long races i dont put them in tournaments.
My believe is that the fast earlier or slow down earlier really dont work, is just there but is no use for it, is the computer who assign the pace control. And it should be good to implement the control pace in tournaments.
I'd like to think in time, HRF programmers will introduce a better training program where we have the pace control. One that works to our satisfaction. In fact, I'm sure they've experimented with this. Just my guess and opinion. In the mean time, it is what it is. I don't like it, but we're stuck with it for now.
If we're satisfied with the new artificial intelligence when it comes out, maybe they (HRF) could listen to us about our concerns about the pace portion of game and re-evaluate what they have now and make improvements that we'll all like and boast about. Could happen. That's why threads like this are important. JMO
Good stuff. Really did not help but I guess I was just thinking I was missing the boat on something. I am having problems in sprints right now. 43.2 is pretty suicidal in even a 5furlong race. In the real world the horse would settle into 44.3 or 45 range depending on the class. I am just saying horses that get a clear lead in real races win about 40-50% of the time especially in sprints. ES rules in the real world, on here it is wasted because they go to fast. Surely something to look at in the future. If my horses that like the lead would run just a tiny bit slower and control the pace they would not fade to the back in the last furlong. It is probably the legit most unrealistic part of the game, well traffic problems are right there with it. I just really do not want to even run these horses because it is a waste. I guess I will because sometimes they manage to do ok.
It is an issue. But it would suggest to me wrong surface or distance for the horse. I think 2 yr olds tend to burn out more also. I the Good One tourny I saw a lot of different 2 yr olds runnin 2-3 presses short of flat out in 8-10f races They were never going to get home. It is bad when good horses do not rune well because they burn out so bad.
the same way u will get a horse that is too slow u may get one that just has to fly out the gates and head for the lead ...try slow down ...save ground at all costs and hope to get tucked up behind another horse for longer distances ..a very high percentage of the finals go too fast ...i guess lots of trainers ask horses with less of a chance to go on the lead ...asking a horse to slow down in a final longer than 7.5 f seldom hurts you....i think of using natural race as telling your jockey to take it as it comes and i would much rather to commit to a flawed plan myself ....
Other than getting blocked for a substantial part of the race then i would have to say there is no other way to slow your horse down as the horse/jockey does'nt respond to these type of instructions anyway,i believe the computer runs the horse based on the math formula worked out between all the horses in said race so basically the horse with the best average stats wins anyway more times than not regardless of instructions. JMHO. I'm in agreement that we should have an option for a pace setting/figure rather than the 3 available options currently have as they're just not accurate enough! I would also say that never slow down on a sprint only 'go faster' or 'true style' and maybe 'true style' or 'slow down' with mid to longer distance (Not that they work anyway, lol!) Anyway just my crappy opinion so take it with a pinch of salt! Lol! ;) Meant to add that if you upload a saved race from your trainer horses practice races in advance mode others can view the handicappers comments that tell you your horses preffered styles, don't know how accurate it actually is but its pretty good with the community horses in quick start! Just upload the race and ask a buddy to view the race and all the info will be available to them to relay back to you!
Or, at least I think so. When the bits are made available, we will be able to have a big say on where our horses should be, according to our wants. In-other-words, don't expect, Silky Sullivan, Whirlaway, Zenyatta to try and steal a race on the front end. The proper bit will keep them to the rear. I'm sure this same reasoning will apply to the front riunners and stalkers. This is all my opinon based on my knowledge of bits. If I'm right, I hope that we could use an assortment of bits in training as well as in actual tournament races.
I would have to agree Doug that the new upcoming features in the next update will be an added plus to the game but IMO they must have a positive affect to be a justified part of the game!
on different surfaces.
