I bought the Best Horses to Prior 1950 and also suggested someone to purchase this one because you get alot of the horses that are in the shed. I dont think they go on sale.

That looks like a nice package. How did Citation stack up? I think he was Arcaro's favorite.

Citation dirt fast and dont know the distance but SR141 its high it posted. Also Man O War posted a SR142 going 12F dirt fast. I know my horses werent even close when that happened. LOL

I have the same file (prior to 50's) and tough bunch of horses. whirlaway loves marathons running 130+sr as 2yr olds, sprints, mid-distances and all surfaces are covered..

Personally feel best file available..

Prior to 50's is the best, in my opinion. Right after 50's is great too. Swaps, Nashua, John Henry, etc. I like the two foreign files. Heck, they're all fun to play around with. The best rating that I ever got so far on, Citation and Man O' War is a 130. Never higher. Didn't use dirt sloppy, because of the artificially inflated speed rating. The distances were 10 furlongs and 11 furlongs. No Sprints.

in my game whirlaway, seabuscuit, man o war and citation are the best but whirlaway blows 130-135SR every time hahahahahaha...AT 2YR OLD!!! LMAO i got nothing to beat them over longer runs..

I did as you asked. Settings, horses, everything. Phar Lap drew off by himself to win by 10 lengths, with a speed rating of 139........Whirlaway closed fast from behnd to land second place, with, Man O' War a close third behind that one . Race was at Churchill Downs around three turns. 2 year olds only, dirt fast, on 11/1 Scale Weights.
Citation was fifth as I recall. I have it marked down. Ten horses from that file went postward.

SR139...yep i get same results, just winners change... i have tried around 50 others against them and nothing comes close to that file over longer distances at 2yr old.....

Anybody buy the the whole shootin match for $149? I don't expect I'll be shelling out that much but I would be interested in hearing a review of the package from anyone who has taken the plunge.

I use it in training all the time... Much better than community horses and great to use as an evaluation tool.

Welcome to the Game!

I bought the Total package about a year ago.
It's fantastic!

The file that these guys are recommending is also my favorite.
Although I use Secretariat a lot.
I started off with the 1950's one, then bought Secretariat, Riva Ridge.
I was going to buy 70's , 80's, but decided it would be cheaper in the long run to buy the entire package.

I feel that this move is one of the main reasons why I'm one of the greatest to ever play the Game.

Are the top fantasy horses competitive with the legends?

Anyone with 2M+ points could teach me a whole lot I am sure. I added up all the classic files that I would like the most and I came up to about $120 so if I was to do that, I would get the whole package. More likely, I will get one or 2 of the files and just make that work for me. Can't see spending $150 on fake horses. Maybe if I hit the Ky Derby. ;-)

By Fantasy horses, are you referring to the community file horses, or the actual player bred horses? ... Alot of the player's horses can simply smoke the legends, while only a few of the community file horses can even compete with them. IMO Fem comm1 file contains the best community horses HRF has to offer. Here Comes Thunder can compete with the legends on fast to heavy dirt, Enufwiddahaydude can compete with them on turf, and then the slop is dominated by Heavy Fog.. Infact, the only legend horse from the 1950s file that can beat her (that I have seen) in slop is Seabiscuit.

But as a general rule if you have a horse that can finish in the top 3 against these legend horses...Then you've got yourself a serious competitor in this game.

True, you have a point, but there are some of us who spend thousands on this game. What's $150?
There are guys here that buy 2 million points, every other week.
It's like anything else in life, I can't see buying a Ferrari, but I'm not a millionaire.....yet!

Buying the complete package, if you have the money. I bought most of my favoite files, with no regrets. If I had it to do over, I'd purchase the whole bundle. The one's mentioned are great (my favorites too) but I like them all. And use them all. I have a horse in my stable now that has beaten the best of the best in training. File horses. Community horses. It doesn't matter. This doesn't mean he could do it on every distance and surace and track conditon. Some have their specilatise. And it doesn't necessarily mean he'll repeat in tournaments. But, they are quite capable. And are always dangerous. IMO

One more question, any idea when they will create the next group, the 2010 files?

Here's my guess. If and when these files are available, HRF will let us know. They have so much on the plate now, that I'm sure this is on the back burner. It would be nice if Puddles could chime in and give us an update on this question. I remember when it took a long time to get foreign horse files in our game. Well, they're here now and I'm glad. Soooo many great horses there.

I want him totally focused on the same horses button. Why do you think I've been so good lately.

Just a question regarding these horse files. If I purchase the files will the horses start showing up randomly in the quick start version of the game. This is the primary mode I tend to use and it would be good to get some more horses filtering through the races as I play.
