thus far is to run the shortest Grade 1 race at 5 furlongs, see if I can win that way, and then run the longest distance, which is 2 miles (yes, I know there aren't anymore 2 mile Grade 1 races anymore than there are 5 furlong, but you know what I mean ;). It's a lot of fun learning how to be proficient running two completely different kinds of races. For a 2 mile race you can REALLY lay back and still have a realistic shot to rally, whereas it's not possible to win at 5 furlongs from too far back.

That IS fun! It hadn't even occurred to me to try that and it is definitely fun. I'm not too good at it yet, but hopefully I'll get better! Nice tip.
Man, I'm struggling with those 2-mile races. Not my strong suit. I guess I'll just have to spend hours and hours playing the game so I can get better. What a sacrifice!:-)
I like to race in 5 - 6.5 furlong races and pick closers no matter what the odds are. I always get a rush the final 1/4 of a mile when I'm closing in and the people in stands start cheering.
