For this race, i like Intangaroo - for a few reasons
1 - Quinonez will be under bet and great value
2 - there should be alot of pace and he should be closing well
3 - he's never finished out of the money at OSA
Let's see... I'll go ahead and give my picks for the Juvenile, probably the race I'm most excited for this year(next to the Classic, of course).
1. Munnings (7/2)
2. Gallant Son (15/1)
3. Terrain (20/1)
4. Square Eddie (9/2)
5. Azul Leon (20/1)
6. Silent Valor (15/1)
7. Elusive Bluff (15/1)
8. Street Boss (6/1)
9. Mine that Bird (30/1)
10. Pioneerof the Nile (15/1)
11. Midshipman (5/1)
12. Bushranger (6/1)
13. West Side Bernie (20/1)
Here I'm going to go with Munnings. Why pick the Speightstown son? He's been behind Vineyard Haven in his past two starts. Without Vineyard Haven, he may have a shot if he can get the distance. He's trained by Pletcher, who historically isn't too wonderful in the Cup, and hasn't been doing quite as well as usual this year, but who is nonetheless my favorite trainer and a good trainer at that. He'll be working on his colt's endurance, I'm sure. If he can get the distance, I think he's got a good shot.
As for a long shot, watch out for West Side Bernie. He's undefeated in two starts, which doesn't mean too much, but he could potentially be pretty good. He's had fast recent works, and is proven around two turns. He won the KY Cup Juvenile without much trouble, and faced trouble in his debut. It just depends on whether or not he has the raw talent to face these top horses, in my opinion.
And of course don't overlook Midshipman or Square Eddie, who are both top contendors in the race. But I'm going to go with Munnings and West Side Bernie.
I have not done my handicapping yet, but I am still upset about friday racing which I will miss because of work. It really was a stupid decision. I think I see a few euro invaders that have really intrigued me for saturday
RC I'm no great handicapper but it does not look to me like this Pro-Ride surface has been too kind to speed. It seems to wear the speed horses down and there are some great stalker-type horses in the Classic.
Although I understand in the last week about nine races have been one wire-to-wire at SA, so maybe the surface has changed some?
Has anyone come across a reason why the Fillies and Mares Sprint is 7 furlongs, while the "regular" Breeders' Cup Sprint is 6 furlongs? That's a bit of a bizarre decision, though I often thought that the Spring should always be in the 6.5 to 7-furlong range, anyway.
I'd just bet all on this one and hope a longshot comes through, on paper there's no horse that can't win, I have a feeling the pace will be better than 26 and 51 so you could probably throw out the two sped horses, but you never know the turn track at santa anita runs more like dirt than turf. Wait a While is undefeated at OSA and I'm a big horse for turf course, but not a the price you'll get for her.
The horse I'd bet on is Together Forever, J. Sheppard at on Turf is underbet and always dangerous and if you look at her last race, she's got kick a plenty with Leparoux, I think she comes wide and mows them all down.
Personally I think that Carriage trail will win going away.
Coco Beach will be there too, so there's the tri,
If you look, every horse in this race averages a field of about 6 each race. Carriage Trail beat 9 in a course record, bearing out badly if she stays straight she wins by 5.
I have been handicapping for weeks. I like Curlin (classic), Zenyatta (Distaff), Indian Blessing(F&M Sprint), Laragh(JUV Fillies Turf), and alot of others, LOL

Here's a quick rundown of my picks for today's Breeder's Cup races, in the races I have an opinion on. All of them are from a handicapping standpoint, unless I mention that the horse has more of a sentimental value - horses that I like and will root for, even if I do not think they will win.
Juvenile: Munnings/West Side Bernie
Juvenile Turf: Coronet of a Baron(both from a handicapping and sentimental standpoint - I've liked him since the )
Mile: Goldikova/Kip Deville(Precious Kitten is a sentimental choice)
Sprint: Street Boss/Midnight Lute
Turf: Grand Couturier(But I'm gonna be rooting for Better Talk Now. The old boy is always close and I liked him in the 2004 Turf)
Classic: Curlin(Casino Drive is my favorite current racer, though, and I'm hoping he upsets Curlin)

fairbanks wire to wire in the classic. lone speed, box him with ravens pass, curlin and tiago.

I like
8, 12, 10, 2
For a turf race at OSA - from the looks of it I think a stalker will win this.
The 10 raced in a a grade one over in IRE, 12 horses, 7f firm, was in the lead with 1f to go,
She's still a maiden however, so maybe a good price.
the 8, is improving - wayne catalano (dreaming of anna) with a jockey change to coa whose pretty good on the turf. also another good price.
apparently they designed the race at 7fl, last year at monmouth they ran it at 6fl because they can't run at 7fl there.
makes no sense.
11 - Pursuit of Glory
10 - stardom bound
6 - Van Lear Rose (30-1ml)
7 - Dave's Revenge
There should be plenty of pace to this race, expect the closers to swallow them up.
I'd just bet all on this one and hope a longshot comes through, on paper there's no horse that can't win, I have a feeling the pace will be better than 26 and 51 so you could probably throw out the two sped horses, but you never know the turn track at santa anita runs more like dirt than turf. Carriage Trail and Zenyatta
The chalkiest boxed exacta of the bc.
Personally I think that Carriage trail will win going away.

if you want a super go add Santa teresita.
