i have not tried in this version...but in an older version of the trainer game I have one the triple crown with a couple horses. Not as tough here as in real life :)...sometimes my horse would be tired for the preakness because 2 weeks was tough to recover from race to race
I've won the Triple Crown twice with community horses and I havent even bought any files yet. I won my first Triple Crown on Pride's Joy and the second on Daisy Cutter.
I have won many Derbies, Preaknesses, and Belmonts, but not consecutive, except for twice like I said.
I must have had half a dozen near misses though. I won the Derby and Preakness but lost the Belmont.
I've also won the Derby, Preakness and Belmont in a row many, many times but not with the same horse so technically, it wasn't a Triple Crown win.
What I did was opened up the game and in my community account selected "Choose race from master file" and found the races there.
And to answer your question no I was not in a tournament; and I am not quite sure myself how to get into a tournament..
winningcolors...................... Are you riding as the jockey, or are you watching and betting? Do you select the field, or does the computer make the selections? How many horses to you usually have in each of the three Triple Crown races? Do you change anything, such as distance, weight carried, pace for an individual horse, etc.??? Do you run all three races on the dirt? Do you change track conditions? Do you take Index into consideration? That's the length of time between races. Sorry for all the questions. Just curious.
I am riding as the jockey on my community account on a computer-chosen community horse, and yes I do try to take the index's into consideration; like if I fail the Crown on one horse I don't try again on the same horse, and no I have not changed the races and/or conditions.
Hi mrmojok, I'm not sure winningcolors understood what I meant by me using the word index either. You don't usually see this word used today when talking about handicapping variables, but it certainly was very popular a few decades ago.
Index refers to when the horse last raced. I use it in my handicapping procedures. I don't usually like to bet on horses that have been away 30, or more days. I see todays race as a workout for such horses. I will however, adjust and sometimes ignore the Index if horse is a stakes horse. Especially a great stakes horse.
It's especially risky business to back horses that have been away for several months. On the rare occasions that I'll back such a horse, it is important to have a fast workout or two. Bullet works are especially nice. For me though, I prefer to give the horse a race, before considering him for a wager, after too long of a break from real racing.
When I glance at each horses Index, I like them to have had at least a 14 day rest between races. I use this as a guide and mostly am able to stick with my way of eliminating horses, but, at times, judgment does come into play, especially with grade 1,2, and 3 horses.
Again, to get the Index figure, merely glance at left side of past performance line for any and all horses and see the date when horse last raced.
Horses that have been away for more than 30 days and don't have a workout pattern, or have a poor workout pattern are easily tossed from consideration.
In past years, you sometimes saw a horse come back within five days of his/her last race. They were usually well meant and often won. You don't see much of this now days. These were usually the better horses.
I understand that, but what I meant is, is there some way of making it factor into the game? Where a horse doesn't run as well if he has been inactive for months, or if he just raced a couple of days ago?
This is a good point. Actually this would certainly be worth the developers considering and well within their abilities. My gut feeling is that it may not be there now. At least, nt to the extent that it should be. I try using the game past performances as I do the real Daily Racing Form past performances and see a need for improvements.
Do I personally think Index should be factored into our game??? I most certainly do. I think it's a must and should be on everybody's wish list.

What horse were you riding when you did this, Winningcolors?

The I rode was a community horse named Bull Run, a filly.
What I did was opened up the game and in my community account selected "Choose race from master file" and found the races there.

Rum- what do you mean exactly by index?

I would imagine it will certainly factor into the trainer portion of the game, when it is released.
