comments on pace and other

this is to indiancharlie about the pace ofthe races not meaning anything. you are right when running races with comm. horses because thrse horses are fantasy and run erratically because they are cheap horses. when you run races with the real horses from the files the form holds up quite well with pace being VERY important. these good to great horses can handle max speed on turns with no drifting out.i also want a very realistic game which i get with these greats but i dont expect it in comm mode which is more for fun and points.when i run races with buckpasser and spectacular bid and other greats i truly believe that it is them running in yhese races based on thier color and running style and especially ability. the only thing better is if they had there own silks on and if the tracks were real looking.the developers got the running styles right and the ratings for each horse for every distance are amazing. you can also run turf horses vs. dirt horses on a synthetic surface evenly which is pretty cool.they show you what surfaces every horse likes or not.so i think we should play in comm. just for fun and points and dont expect it to be so perfectly formfull. if you want form and realistic pace then private mode with real horse files is where you will get it. i am using 1950- 1990 horses now and when the 70s are released my game will be complete.

pace makes the race

Most of "my" fantasy games are actually with the community horses. I find their different pace styles to be quite accurate. I've played other horse race games that didn't even attempt to bring about accurate fractional times and pace scenarios. This game has not only attempted to do this, but has, in my opinion, succeeded.
In one of those recent posts where someone raced their community horses 2 miles and they apparently weren't satisfied with the pace, as far as the finish outcome was concerned. I think, as I recall, the 3/4 in this members race was 1:10 and change. Well,
you go that fast, at 2 miles and you'll be lucky to be around at the finish. When I race this distance, the 3/4 mile time is usually 1:12, or 1:13 and change. For that distance, those are very realistic times. I find all of the fractional times, at all distances to be very, very accurate.

I agree with you, I play with the community horses all the time, I never use the famous ones....And I dont see the pace problem, they are usually right on...ruffiano
