Today we lost the great fillie Princess Rooney at the age of 28 and the great Cozzene who was also 28 both were euthanized. It's a sad day for horse racing fans.
Yes, this is very sad, but they did manage to make an impact at the track during their racing days and did manage to live a long life. I remember both of these horses and especially remember the gray, Cozeen.
I've never mentioned it before, on this forum, but I am/was a horse person myself, having won many blue ribbons and trophy's in Gymkhana events. I owned two horses and two pony's. My horse lived to be 29. The other horse lived to be 33. One of the pony's lived to be 33 also and the Shetland pony lived to be in his late thirties to early forties. We never actually knew for sure.
I had to at different times, have the vet come to my property to put the horses down when their time came. The pony's died on their own, with us present.
All of them are buried on my property, near our dog and cat cemetery, under a grove of Hugh Redwood trees.

They did live long happy lives, and I think I was ready for this one because I'd had actually just seen a news story on HRTV where they visited Princess Rooney and she was in terrible health. It's been a great year for fillies. Eight Belles, Zeyatta, Zarkava, Pepper's Pride and all. But we must also honor the great ones we've lost this year. Eight Belles, Winning Colors, and Princess Rooney. Rest in peace princess, a true champion of the greatest sport on earth.

Gahh. I hate it when that happens. As long as they lived a long and happy life. That's all that matters.
